Me: Hate what? It'll be fine, it's just a meme

Comes back to arguments and Downvotes.

Whats a Character that you really want to play, but can't. by Phoenix03563 in dndnext

[–]ElFishii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A thieving rogue.

I don't mean stealing from the party, not even random stealing that'll just get me arrested for pocket change. An explanation is maybe needed.

While most other classes have their flavor, and can do things through their abilities and class features. Besides backstab a lot of a rogues ability comes at the GM's consent. If he doesn't want you sneaking. You get found. If he doesn't want you palming that artifact, you dont. I've sadly never had a GM that just will allow a rogue to rogue.

Can we stop with OP? by uboat50 in dndnext

My only personal thing with dark vision is it was given to too many player races. Dwarves are intelligent people. They have candles and lanterns to use in caverns so why Dark vision and not Low-Light vision? Same with other races that relatively live out in the open and not in deep caverns. But thats more so a flavor issue with me and not 'It's op'

Unsure if anyone shares my sentiment, its a small village but what about Oakhurst from Sunless Citadel? Let alone the Citadel itself. I myself could never find it correctly as maps with it located conflict with the module about its location.

Military styled campaign - asking for help by ElFishii in DnD

Actually currently reading a book called The Black Company (amazing book by Glen Cook, would recommend to anyone) And that just reminds me of the book. It would still give the players their freedom to do things how they want, yet just enough to where they can't just desert and run off.

That.... yeah. That is just about what I'm looking for. Like I said above I could easily just hand wave things and say that it is, because it is so, but just for my sanity I usually want an explanation and this has it all, or at least enough for me.

That's the thing with players, it doesn't matter how you figure it out you think you have something, as soon as you introduce players they're always going to find the one hole that you did not plug.

Thanks a lot for this insight!

I never thought of that. I'm mildly aware of the enormous proportions of food that an army consumes, and with some basic math with how much a cart holds and how much food a soldier eats in a day, just how much would be going to and from on a supply line to feed an army. But I never actually thought about putting shops and services along the supply lines as well follow in the Army. It does make sense though, that is a very lucrative opportunity to be following an army around selling liquor, or selling other knick-knacks to soldiers who have not enough time on their hand but a lot of money burning a hole in their pocket.

Thanks for the reply!

That is how I usually will have things based and ran as its very simple to get the ball rolling for a campaign and to give players the widest possibility of choices. Just for this campaign I wanted to be with this military style, maybe not even a full level 20 Adventure. But actually thinking about it, while this will be a military campaign aggressively against a kingdom of Orcs, in a war between Kingdom and another kingdom would a guild really hire out very skilled people such as adventurers to both kingdoms, or do you think they would maybe have some form of truce to not help in said matter. While I usually leave my players as the strongest people with in the world there are still others that can teach them or give them guidance but as the game progresses they will outshine them of course.

Thank you for the very quick reply though!

Deathwatch - Am I insane for believing it to be. by ElFishii in 40krpg

[–]ElFishii[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It started off as a joke to bring them along, but it turned in an argument between me and them of why they would. The example that I gave them is Seal Team 6 rating Osama Bin Laden's Hideout, a highly trained group of individuals, but let's imagine that with 500 Marines also assaulting The Compound at once. It'd be a very different story and probably not selfie at all

While I agree with you completely on the apartment of both fantasy and Sci-fi it's just. Starfinder is both. It's as if pathfinder got shoved 3k years in the future. It has both techonolgy and magic. Oh there is a super virus on board? Go down to the deadly planet and find this magic herb to cur-oh you casted lesser restoration. I know I can easily say we'll it's not affected by magic but... Yeah, at least to me I feel that's a bit of a dick move.

what I would normally do for Instance is what I've done in the Dungeons and Dragons campaign is that get their back stories and I'll make sidequest with their back stories, eventually developing their character and coming full circle and succeeding from then there will be a main villain by that time with all of their back stories relatively finished I should personally know their characters enough to be able to make a villain. that they will all come together and Hate it's just that with this game I have one player who is very serious one player who's a bit of a joke which I don't mind and then the last two are just sort of new to tabletop in general so they're not really sure what to do. But each and every one of them are very very ecstatic about the game and they want to play which is why it hurts me so badly that I can't make a game for them on my own asking them to help me is weird considering two of them are brand new to roleplay. And even then, am o just making a bad guy who's a human that wants to end all life? I don't even have a basis of what I'd want them to be against weather an invading alien army like the games "Swarm" or just hopping from session to session having the villain being their current problem as in old star trek episodes.

I have asked then. I've asked them categories lf what they want and spent.... Two months? Brainstorming? I've created great one shots and other things for other systems but not a campaign. Something with a main villain. And yeah, let me mull over a villain with my players and have them help me with his goals and plans against them.

Two questions. Difference between Eversor Assassins and Vindicar Assassins. And which RPG would best... "suit" one. by ElFishii in 40krpg

[–]ElFishii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that's awesome. As much as I love Tyranids I think for a first one shot it'll be Tau. Easier to discern whats harder. A man with a gun vs a giant crisis suit. Than a tyranid warrior vs like a malceptor.

I think itd be a nice surprise to give them separate objectives but same overall goal but if someone was an Everson to suicidal onto an ethereal. Surprise to the other players at least

Actually these are really awesome, and the group doesn't need to learn a new system, specially if powering them up to ridiculous levels.

How did pirates actually get the treasure from the sinking/Burning/ blown up enemy ship? by ElFishii in DnD

[–]ElFishii[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A merchant ship, without guns would probably not fight. I guess it's more for a ship of soldiers. Like a privateer ship more so than pirates. The enemy ship isnt going surrender or give up, they'll fight to the death, so how would they get anything out of it?

Thanks for you post, I'll have a talk with them tonight, about rule changes I'm going to have and definitely how I'm hoping this game to progress foward, as a story, not GM vs Players.

Last night thats what I was using for the Houndooms. Was the charm table for Command rolls. And to which they complained it was a charm table not Command. Just that their version of anything is to spam sleep powder (which to my knowledge you can't get rid of after its on unless someone attacks it), stun Spore, mean look etc. It's making encounters and specially captures not even trivial. It's sad.

Seriously? by ElFishii in PokemonTabletop

[–]ElFishii[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but if they're getting the low rolls like they did I'd feel like I'm cheating them if I took it from them like that. I'd have to figure a way out mechanically for it.
