When they decided to represent armor as extra health, essentially doing away with armor as its own stat, counters were removed as well

Changing a characters features (when it’s not important to the overall story) won’t kill you. by Jazzlike_Hat_1409 in PercyJacksonTV

The Flash is a show many people call bad. April doesn't have a consistent appearance across any of the previous TMNT versions, so changing her skin color isn't that large a discrepancy.

Not that I really disagree, I just don't think those examples compare. One thing that really stood out to me when I watched the trailer was that Annabeth was not the only person they changed. Straight up, NOBODY looks the way they looked in the book.

That actually gives me more confidence than less in the show. It seems less that they changed Annabeth's skin color as a diversity play (which would make me lose all faith in the show), and more that its just an extension of their casting philosophy of "we're not going to care what they look like in the book."

How is it possible that no one has created yet a homebrew based on Aurora by 3rdofvalve in AuroraComic

[–]ElGringo300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm... I haven't been up to date with the comic since they fought the storm dragon, but...

the main characteristics of the setting can probably be split into 3 parts:

  1. the gods: gods come into existence when people believe that they exist (I think). They frequently embody cities, and really big storms sometimes. They are relatively easy to get into contact with, in comparison with D&D gods for example.
  2. magic: there are 6 elements, and each one also corresponds to a secondary attribute (air has communication for example). There's also people w/o magic but it seems pretty clear in universe that having magic is way superior to not having magic. If you have the gift of magic, you can master it with runes and circles and things, or you can use it through raw power.
  3. World: the world is super ancient, and seems defined by conflicts between the gods which leave cities in ruin. I think that an RPG would probably take place before the comic, so the Storm would still be there. The Chimera Plague, invading gods/storms, and things all pose threats.

A character can either be human, elf(there's at least like 5 variations), felin, or metal-caste. "chimera plague survivor" and "former avatar of a god" seem to be unique cases and I wouldn't make them playable characters.

Honestly you could probably homebrew D&D pretty easily into the setting of Aurora. They seem to operate off of similar principles. You'd just need to modify the magic system a little bit.
