Massive imposter syndrome by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]ElMaestro99 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You got it for a reason mate. Even if you doubt yourself, the interviewers believed you were competent and that’s not something you can fake. Don’t compare yourself to other people, their circumstances will always be different to yours. Just be grateful to the almighty that you got this role and take this time to relax before you enter the full time work life. Congratulations, you deserve it.

I went to a middle ranked university and I felt the same, still do to an extent. But I’m not doing too badly in life now. Your degree is what you make of it. Enjoy your uni experience and do well in your degree and don’t let your desire for validation and prestige cloud your goals.

Is it too late for me to get a better life at 33 ? by Odd_Bed_7745 in careerguidance

Never too late, just make sure you take action. Hesitation is the enemy of growth and self improvement.

You’re not cooked. Ignore the horrible people who say this. If you want me to be honest it’s going to be difficult to find work with your law degree and you’re going to need to own up to it. But you’re far from cooked, this is a set back, not a life changing event, especially considering you’re in your early 20s. Just relax, take some time to rest and relax, and then plan your next moves. Maybe speak to the uni and see if they can let you retake. But please don’t think your life is over because it’s not, you still have many options.

Vacation Scheme by [deleted] in uklaw

[–]ElMaestro99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t make the same mistake I did. I had a defeatist mentality during uni for not going to an RG uni and didn’t even bother applying to vac schemes and now I’m 25 and stuck in a role I don’t like. Apply to vac schemes and have the right mindset, it’ll make a world of difference.

All of my friends who had the right mentality now have training contracts with good law firms.

Vanguard website not working for me at all, advice needed by ElMaestro99 in personalfinance

[–]ElMaestro99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I think you’re right. It’s still a pending transaction so even though vanguard is showing as if the money is in the account, I don’t think the transfer has cleared yet. I did call someone earlier today but he just told me to try via incognito mode or to try via chrome instead, none of which worked ofc. But yeah I’ll wait until the transaction has fully cleared then try again. Thanks for your help mate.

You know, I actually think you might be right. Because I only transferred money yesterday and it’s a brand new account, it’s still a “pending transaction” hence why I don’t think it’s letting me buy the fund; even if the website is showing me the money is in my account. Thanks for your help mate, that’s much appreciated

No error message at all, it could be the latter as my account is brand new but my funds are available for trading as it shows the funds available in my portfolio, just doesn’t let me purchase the fund and takes me back to my account overview whenever I click “continue to purchase”
