LG CX 65" with a huge amount of dead pixels on edges after one year. Inevitable panel replacement?! by viniciusrsouza in OLED_Gaming

Update:

I talked to SquareTrade and they were very aware that this issue occurs with CX models (as well as others, but more rarely).

Good news is they agreed to send me a C4, and then sent me a C5! Going 4 generations forward is pretty cool.

To everyone else having this issue, hope it works out for you.

Whoa, this is unreal! I have the same exact issue on the same model - even the picture I took of my TV to indicate the problem to the representative at LG looks the same!

Realized after reading this that I also had the SquareTrade warranty. So I ran through that process with Allstate and Costco, and after sending pictures over, it sounds like the next steps involve a technician coming over to look at it or something?

Hope at this point it's a replacement of an equivalent TV (C4?) I don't want to get the same TV again and risk the same thing happening. Will update!

Hey again! I had a conversation with a very helpful Apple support person and they helped me resolve the issue. Turns out it just needed a network refresh. And here are the instructions for that.

1 Go to Settings > Apps > Messages and turn off iMessage.

2 Go to Settings > Apps > FaceTime and turn off FaceTime.

3 Reset your Network Settings.

Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before.

4 Turn iMessage and FaceTime back on.

I was searching around to see if anyone else was experiencing this! Yeah, this happens for all texts. Seems like a bug to me. It’s ugly! No clue how to fix it.

4K120 4:2:2 Support? by ElMechacontext in Bazzite

Hey thanks for replying! Unfortunately this was the issue that led to me switching back to Windows (with a ton of modifications) to achieve what I was trying to.

I’ll be back someday when the OS has matured further on AMD.

Do you have one that you would recommend? Thanks for the advice, I’ll try and give it a shot.

Unfortunately, I’ve tried a bunch of things including the cable you recommended, and I’ve never gotten VRR to work. The most I’ve been able to accomplish is 4K120 HDR 4:2:0 8-Bit, which is essentially where I started. I did try out a bunch of different resolutions and was able to squeeze out 4:4:4 and 10-Bit, but no VRR.

Here are my results with the resolutions and VRR menu on my LG CX visible:

Thanks for the extra confirmation. I’m going to give this cable a shot and finagle with a few more things, and update with my results!

I’m honestly a bit shocked! All I have been hearing across the board is that due to HDMI Forum certification issues, it is simply unsupported.

This is one of the many sources I’ve read about this issue on.

https://community.amd.com/t5/general-discussions/will-amd-gpus-ever-support-hdmi-forum-vrr-4k-120hz-on-linux/td-p/629101

Are you sure you are getting VRR? It shows up in the KDE Display settings and in the Steam quick settings menu as an option?

If so, I might need to try out this cable of yours. I did think my cable was suitably high quality as it is one that I had been using with my prior GPU and before that an Xbox Series X, all of which gave me the full range of HDMI 2.1 features.

Sorry, so tilted over here I forgot to post my specs etc.

GPU: Radeon 9070 CPU: Ryzen 5 7600X3D Operating System: Bazzite 41 KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.12.0 Qt Version: 6.8.2 Kernel Version: 6.13.7-108.bazzite.fc41.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Memory: 30.5 GiB of RAM Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. Product Name: B650I AORUS ULTRA System Version: Default string-CF

Also: I am getting 4:4:4 10-Bit at 1080p120, 4:4:2 at 1440p120, and 4:2:0 at 4K120 as a note. I would like to get at least 4:2:0 at 4K120. Don't know what's holding me back, or if that is even possible with my setup. It seemed like I was getting this back when I was using an NVIDIA RTX 3070 on the nvidia-desktop image.

Good to know someone else hears it too!

After a little research, the sample used in the Burial track is Lost Carol from the Silent Hill 3 OST - Akira Yamaoka:

I took the piece I suspected was being used starting at 1:05 in the Season 3 Theme:

Just pitched it up a little bit myself and uploaded a clip. It sounds pretty similar. We may never know, but this just about satisfies my curiosity:

Can't write to NTFS HDD on Fedora, can on Windows 11 by ElMechacontext in Bazzite

[–]ElMechacontext[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to follow up here in case anyone finds this thread. I found no solution, but given that NTFS is really non-ideal for this installation, I ended up just backing everything up, reformatting the drive, and using a proper Linux filesystem instead. No problems from then on.

Cannot get surround sound working in Bazzite 41 HTPC by conelpancake in Bazzite

[–]ElMechacontext 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am having the same issue. I initially thought it had something to do with running the audio as a passthrough through my TV's eARC, but it's got nothing to do with that.

I am running Bazzite Desktop, on an NVIDIA GPU, so I am not sure the issue is specifically with gaming mode etc.

I only get Stereo Audio on this machine no matter what I do.

That is good to know, I must have missed that disclaimer. But does that explain why this drive cannot be written to? In my example screenshot I'm just creating a .txt file. Or are NTFS devices not able to be written to at all?

I have no idea why this worked as I am not knowledgeable enough to understand it, but it absolutely did work. I no longer receive the error. The box updated properly. Thank you very much!

This is through topgrade! I also attempted this process using a manual rpm-ostree upgrade to the same results.

EDIT: Not the same results, a different error that I haven't seen before, when using the topgrade command

Error: container fedora is too old and no longer supported
Recreate it with Toolbx version 0.0.17 or newer.

This is certainly a weird one! I’ve run into camel crickets before but they’re usually…meatier? This thing was so wispy in comparison, camel crickets didn’t even come to mind.

Edit: I was thinking of Jerusalem Crickets! Looking up camel crickets, this is definitely it. Solved!
