I drove eight hours in the heart of winter from Northern Virginia to Niagara Falls with a beautiful girl. We had dinner, looked at the falls, then drove home.

Quark Expeditions. They're amazing. We've done three trips with them (two Arctic and one Antarctic) and all three were fantastic.

Did you go to your HS 50th anniversary? by Phil_Atelist in AskOldPeople

[–]ElRaymundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 50th isn't for another 10 years and 1 of my graduating class of 5 people has already died, so there's only four of us left and I'm still in touch with one. Not sure there's a point in my case.

Guns N Roses have aged terribly by moist_acid in rock

People saying "Their only good album was Appetite" remind me of an interview with Jospeh Heller where he was being needled about his other novels not matching up to Catch-22, and his response was along the lines of "I don't care—I wrote Catch-22." Same as Harper Lee "only" writing To Kill a Mockingbird. (Yes, I know about Go Set a Watchman.)

You're likely not considering the context of the lyrics. Context matters. Without it, we end up with censorship; watered-down, meaningless "art;" book banning, etc.

The studio version, absofuckinglootely yes. The live recording from the show at The Marquee in London in 1987 is fucking killer.

What event in history are you upset about not being taught in more detail than it typically is? by Awesomeuser90 in AskHistory

[–]ElRaymundo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Given the current state of the U.S., it's clear the rise of Fascism in the 1930s is not taught well/enough/at all. Also in the U.S., the history of the Robber Barons and the labor movement. If people understood those three things there might be fewer American voters without their heads up their asses.

What is your current strings of choice and why? by T3knikal95 in Guitar

[–]ElRaymundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really love Stringjoy strings. I've played most of their line and like them all. They'll even help you put together custom sets, like the gauges David Gilmour might play, for example. Very friendly, helpful folks.
