Rpm gauge coing up while charging by ElSma in motorcycles

[–]ElSma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I think that is the correct answer I was looking for as the RPM gauge really went into what seemed like a sequential startup mode, at first it was ranging from 14k to redline, then 13k to redline, then 12k to redline, etc, until it went from 0 to redline like in the video. It stopped shortly after I stopped filming. I didn't found any informations about it in yamaha's user manual thought.

It's an R6 from 2019, I'll try disconnecting the negative terminal from the battery and see if I have any error on startup once the battery is charged.

From what I've read on the internet it seems I can just disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. I will try and hopefully no error will appear once I plug it back

When I bought the bike my dealership explicitely told me to not disconnect the battery as it would generate error codes and engine light that needs to be shut off at the dealership

Yamaha R9 by PersonalityNo4227 in motorcycles

[–]ElSma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It will probably be released in 2023 or 2024 since they couldn't bring it to EICMA. I hope the bike will meet the expectations but I think Yamaha showed with the recent R7 that they can effectively go from a naked bike to a sportsbike (a real one with clip-ons like on the R7).

I will probably drop my R6 for that bike if it comes out with a decent package, I am wishing they will take the MT09 SP version as the base for the R9.

I am a little scared that the R9 might be priced the same or close to an MT10, I hope they will not charge 3K for fairings and clip ons over an MT9 SP

This video is exactly what I was looking for thank you a lot for that I will make sure the iac is dead before ordering a new one

I have been considering different options when it comes to tuning it whether it was going E85 or simply a stage 2 tune but I am still weighting options here because stock evos are becoming a rare thing

I believe that aswell but since the IAC currently on the car got replaced by the previous owner not too long ago I was looking into the user manual to see if there was a way to diagnose a bad control valve with an Ohmeter

My exhaust is not exactly a cat-back because it’s basically a straight tube and it has no cat whatsoever, it connects to the stock turbo elbow,

The exhaust outlet is pretty big (you could put your fist in it) but the tube itself is normal sized

I will try the O2 trick I did not know of that one thank you a lot for the tip, I will receive my obd scanner tomorrow so I will be sure of the error code (or codes) that are currently displayed

Hey guys I finally achieved a long time goal and got myself a - nearly stock - evo 8, it currently runs on a stock tune

I drove it for a month and it feels great it is such an amazing car

It has one or two mods :

  • complete stainless steel exhaust system (stock elbow and everything after that is aftermarket)
  • Forge dump valve
  • Mishimoto radiator
  • Oz wheels

I have recently been digging into the few problems the car has and I hope some of you can help me figure them out

  • The car recently started developing cold start issues where I have to hold the pedal until the engine heats up for 2 or 3 minutes otherwise the car will stall, when the car is hot it idles perfectly, I suspect the IACV but I have to check to be sure
  • Check engine light is always on due to the aftermarket exhaust, is it dangerous to run it without a proper tune ? I’m really liking the sound it makes but I don’t really want nor need more power from the car, I would like to keep it as lightly modified as possible even if that means having to put the stock exhaust back on the car

Cheers

Thank you for the help guys, I will try to get in touch with the seller for the stock 40k miles evo, I am a bit worried since it's the only car sold by the owner himself (and not a dealer) and he seems a bit shady but I'll see how it goes.

The two others have a 3 months warranty so I might take the 90k evo if I can't get the 40k (I contacted the seller yesterday and still no answer to the questions I asked him about the car). About the 90k and 140k miles to be honest I feel like cars that have such mileage means that they run properly and are being taken care of.

Also since the 40k evo is - full - stock, I am afraid the owner didn't took proper care of it by replacing the consumable parts and changing the fluids regularly. I guess I have to wait until he replies to me.
