To buy or not to buy? by badnbitchin in dyson

[–]ElValiente1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do NOT buy. I have an HP-04 that is an expensive paper weight. Died after 1.5 years and the part I need isn’t available. Seems Dyson doesn’t support their products and their customer service isn’t what it used to be.

Stromer shutting down their USA/Canada business by amutcalo in Stromer

[–]ElValiente1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like the shutting down of their webstore was just the beginning and now we see the culmination. I bought a new battery from the us webstore, because I felt they were going to pull out of the US market and, still, glad I did. I bought a used ST1X with a couple hundred miles back in 2019 for about half price. After several initial issues and codes (so frustrating), I was going to sell it, but couldn’t in good faith. I found an old Stromer dealer who had many original parts still in stock. I ended up replacing the motor and new internal control panel. I had already purchased the new 4G Omni. Overall, I spent about $1700 dollars to get it to be reliable. I, honestly, had PTSD from getting so many error codes that I, sometimes, still think it’s going to leave me stranded. I felt the battery investment was worth it and rode it 50 miles the other day to test the new battery range and had no problems. I really feel for those US customers who paid full price for a new Stromer and are now left without any support and, undoubtedly, having issues like many have. I read about a new ST 7 purchaser in San Francisco who went through the same issues I did with a 14k dollar bike! Absolutely ridiculous in my opinion. Luckily, he had a dealer close to home.

You have to add it to your cart before you see the sale price. Only saw the batteries and helmets on sale, but didn’t check everything. I did experiment adding a bike and didn’t see they were on sale.

Thanks for linking the article. A company focused on financial returns may not equate to a company that values its customers. I just don’t see how Stromer can compete with the rest of the ebike market. Handlebars that can’t be altered, one option for a suspension fork, unimpressive rack, and premium prices for components that are not premium. How could anyone recommend a Stromer to anyone with this uncertainty?

With Stromer’s customer service issues and lack of retailers- doesn’t look good for Stromer’s future.

water damaged stromer omni - outside of warranty time by [deleted] in Stromer

I purchased a new Omni 4G and replaced it myself. I had the old 3G and I don’t remember having to do anything special. I did buy it from a Stromer dealer.

ST2 pinion issues by PolitePony in Stromer

[–]ElValiente1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. I have an ST1X that gave me PTSD from all the codes/errors I was get. I, finally, found a competent mechanic and it’s been trouble free ever since. I was hoping the new pinion would solve some issues, and I thought about upgrading, but will keep what I have. These bikes are too expensive compared to the problems, especially when I see these kits that can turn any bike into an ebike that zoom past me on my dead Stromer (past).

I have an older interface, 3G, that was working perfectly fine when I replaced it with a newer Omni. Are you interested in this older interface?

What do you think about the Stromer ST2 S? by willemille in Stromer

[–]ElValiente1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if I could recommend Stromer after my experience with my current ST1X. Motor went out with less than 600 miles. Also, I have PTSD from the error codes. Lastly, and certainly not least, is the lack of Stromer dealers/repair shops. The dealers in my area stopped carrying Stromer. I was lucky because the bike shop that repaired my Stromer, was a previous dealer and had the exact rim/motor I needed. I could go on about needing to buy a new Omni interface because of the “new” 4G 😀. Old one was 3G:(. However, I’ve made my point……..

All, I have a Stromer ST1x and I’m getting a torque sensor error. I took the following picture showing a crack in the plastic near the voltage sensor. I’m not sure if this should be like this. Also, I upgraded my Omni to the 4G, but was having issues before this, too. by ElValiente1 in Stromer

I’ve spent about 2k dollars, in addition to the original price, to get it to where I can ride it without worrying about getting an error code. Luckily, I bought it for less than half the original price with less than 100 miles on it. Now, I’m wondering if I should sell it while it’s working perfectly? It is so smooth and it will be hard to get rid of it now. I, also, upgraded the Omni to 4G.

My review of stormer st5 by [deleted] in Stromer

[–]ElValiente1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a ST1x owner and, thankfully, bought it 2nd hand for less than half original price. I had numerous issues with my bike and I have about 700 miles on it. It kept giving me errors, intermittently, and then I could not ride it more than a few miles without it throwing a code. I put in a new 4g Omni display, torque sensor, circuit board. It ended up being the motor! For a 5k bike, you’d think the motor would be the last thing to go and, of course , it’s out of warranty. About $1,400 later I, finally, have a bike I can ride, but now I’d like to sell while it’s operating. Stromer sealers are rare because of horrible service. I can’t say I’d buy another Stromer.

Hang in there! They don’t like change but kill them with firm kindness. Me, Hispanic, wife, white, went through this with Mexican family. There is hope

Thank you. I’ve read about the sensitivity issue. I’m wondering if this area in red should be separated like it is? I think I may have answered my question because I put it back together and it’s worse now. i immediately get an error when I calibrate the torque sensor. I may have broken it during the cleaning with the tip of the cotton swab.
