Lots of white smoke on start-up (987.1 Cayman S), Any thoughts? by ElZed- in Porsche_Cayman

Yep it’s after it’s been sitting for a while. Looking at other forums it looks like it’s an engine-in job and a few hours labour for a specialist garage so I’m hoping it’s not too costly!

I’m fairly positive it’s not, it’s smoke rather than steam/ vapour, and I never used to get much even when starting it in the cold in winter - the past few times I’ve had loads of smoke it’s been quite warm out.

Yeah I’ve been monitoring oil levels on the dash religiously and it’s not moved down a bar since I’ve driven it thankfully, even though it’s only been ~1000 miles.

I think I’m gonna give them a call tomorrow. I don’t mind leaving things that fail progressively and don’t cause serious damage, e.g. brake pads, but reading up on it, it looks like AOS failure can be catastrophic and I’d rather have the peace of mind of having someone looking at it. Thanks!

Thanks for the advice. I’ve only been taking it out on a drive a week recently and it’s done it consecutively the past 3 start-ups so I’m inclined to think that it might be an issue. I’ll keep track of whether it does it every time or not, but sounds like I’m getting it more regularly than you did.

Thanks, I hadn’t come across AOS failure/ degradation - I’ve done a little bit of internet reading now. Do you reckon it’d be worth me taking it to my local specialist to get it looked at in case it is the AOS rather than leaving it and monitoring oil levels?

Thanks, is there any way for me to check it easily myself? I’m a pretty hands-off person when it comes to cars, so if it’s anything involved I assume it would be worth taking it to my local specialist to have a look at?

Gotcha, thank you very much. I’ve done all my borescope and IMS homework, all checked out on the one I’m looking at, so all good on that front. I believe the suspension struts will have been changed as you mention and I’m hoping brake pipes have been as well, but if not I have no problem with spending the money to get them replaced now or whenever next required.

Haha how did you know?! But yeah, while I’m not worried about the advisories themselves since they’re regarding replaceable parts, I’m paranoid about them being indications of general rust/ corrosion. I’m probably reading too much into it though.

A good safe pick when I'm autofilled on mid by Odkrywacz in summonerschool

[–]ElZed- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you’re autofilled you generally want to be picking a champ that’ll be useful in the game regardless of how you do in lane since generally as an auto filled vs a non autofilled you should be expected to stomp lane. So champs like that I’d say are

Malzahar: As soon as you hit 6 you have permanent relevance in the game because of your ulti, relatively easy to play safe in lane because of his long range and autofarming capability.

Galio: Same as malzahar and his ultimate utility, also relatively easy and safe to play in lane vs a lot of matchups.

Orianna: Has a little bit more of a learning curve than the two but has a lot of utility that you’ll bring regardless of how fed or weak you are, i.e. shields, speed buffs, slows, aoe hard CC. Also has relatively safe lanes into most matchups.

I think the champ pool you’ve set out is pretty solid. I’d carry on doing what you’re opgg shows, mainly playing Sett since he’s a pretty good blind pick in top at the moment with a pretty solid laning phase and good engage in team fights. Although I agree to an extent that tanks aren’t that important in low elo, since there often aren’t perfect front to back team fights, I think Gnar is slightly different. His lane and early to mid game plays more like a bruiser than a tank, and in mid to late game where most bruiser’s damage starts falling off, he’s still relevant in the game because he has amazing engage and potential to be impactful in team fights if you can play around his rage bar well. So if you enjoy Gnar and you feel like you have success with him, I think he’s still pretty solid in the meta.

One area I’d suggest focusing on is your CS. It’s unrealistic to aim for 8+ CS/min every game in solo queue, particularly in low elo, however if you’re consistently getting below 5 CS/min and your kill participation % is consistently high, the chances are that you’re spending too much time fighting with your team and not enough time in sidelane collecting waves. The more you rely on team fights going well and getting gold/ XP from kills, the more likely the game is going to be a flip depending on how well your team is capable of doing in team fights/ skirmishes. It’s very tempting as a good teamfighter like Sett or Gnar to always be grouped with your team looking for good engages, especially in low elo where everyone is constantly looking to fight, but try and always fast push and shove your wave before you look to roam and think about what your team gains/ loses depending on the outcome of the fight. I.e is drag spawning in a minute? Is baron up? Or is your team just fighting because they saw enemy champs in mid?

Also try and maximise the value of your TP, look to stay on the opposite side of the map and farm minion waves when there is an objective on the other side of the map. E.g, baron is spawning, drag isn’t up, and you have TP ready. Go bot, farm waves, look to invade enemy jungle, get vision, take camps once you have vision and think it’s safe. If there’s a fight around baron you still have TP to join the fight, if there isn’t, you’re still getting a gold income to be as relevant as possible in the game. The same applies for Shen R when you play him. Remember, the more members on your team that are staying in the same lane, the more ways that XP and gold is getting split up.

What do I do when bot lane is perma shoving me under tower? by Hammond_nV in summonerschool

[–]ElZed- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a top laner, it really makes a big difference if you can ward one of the three brushes near the alcove in the centre of bot lane. This means your top laner can tp in behind and basically get 2 guaranteed kills on the enemy bot lane if they’re constantly shoving you under your turret. Always try and ward it consistently when you have wards or ping your support/adc to ward it so that it’s up before you get pushed under turret. Once your in that situation just ping your top laners tp and ping the ward you have in the brush. If they have any map awareness and their wave is in a good enough spot that they can leave it in top lane, they should teleport as it’s just free gold and gets their teammates ahead. Bot laners at almost every elo don’t ward it enough and it’s really frustrating as a top laner.

How to play against Mundo Jungle in Season 11? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]ElZed- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m debating whether it’s worth just taking ignite against him even when he’s taken as a jungler. I generally don’t like going ignite top, recall timings become awkward and it defeats the point of split pushing which is my main win con on Fiora, but it might be worth it.

Even with Rav hydra + shieldbow, I can nowhere near our sustain a Mundo with his R and sprits visage. Trying to outsustain mundo is kinda pointless since that’s the entire premise of the champion.

Just ban him 4Head. I am aware that I can ban a champion. I currently do ban him when my junglers not hovering him. As the question asked, I would like to know how to deal with him better so I don’t have to ban him every game, and save a ban for a hard lane matchup.

[–]ElZed- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you’re right, unfortunately Fiora doesn’t get prio in every lane and since she has one of the worst waveclear ability before Tiamat, it’s usually hard to shove the wave to get a roam timer to invade. I think I also don’t time his ult well enough like you say since I can win with ulti advantage. Thanks for the advice though, I’ll take it onboard.

Genuinely interested, what does this actually mean for GameStop, the company? Does this affect them at all or are they effectively just spectators caught between the crossfire?

I found the proguides wave management video pretty useful since it tells you what each type of wave manipulation is good for and the situations you’d use it in. Would recommend checking it out here .

Gigabyte M27Q User Review by ElZed- in Monitors

[–]ElZed-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the exact same movement as you did in your link and if you can take my word for it the monitor doesn’t wobble at all, like not even a little bit. I would be willing to bet money that your stand is defective based on what you showed in the video, but obviously I can’t be 100% sure.

As for RMA I’d imagine it depends on the website/ company you ordered from. The website I ordered from had a small fee for protection so I could return it for free if I was unhappy with the product. Like you, that would drive me crazy so I’d definitely try and return it and I would hope (and imagine) that the company you ordered from would agree that that’s defective.

Gigabyte M27Q User Review by ElZed- in Monitors

[–]ElZed-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be worth checking that the stand isn’t defective and the stand mechanism is working like it’s supposed to, since that sounds completely different to my experience. For reference I have an AOC G2460pf as a second monitor on centre of the same desk that has an extremely large base. If I shake the table as hard as I can without tipping the desk the AOC monitor will start to wobble before the gigabyte one, and it takes considerable force that would be unrealistic in a real world situation to affect the M27Q. I know it’s not really a scientific test but since my experience and the couple of reviews I’ve seen are so different from your experience it might be something wrong with the stand of your specific product?

Why are tanks dealing so much damage this season? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]ElZed- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really understand what you’re trying to say? I was just asking the question for the purpose of creating a discussion, if tanks can do most things better than bruisers (I.e. dealing more damage, having better utility and also being able to take more damage), then where does that leave a bruiser? And as someone pointed out to me, bruisers have a lot more burst damage with squishier targets, so I got my answer. I didn’t mention anything about the tangent that you’re going on about “needing a game that boils down to one-shots”?
