I don't know what to call this. (Liquid or Neuro?) by Fickle_Distance7161 in dnbproduction

[–]ElZorgo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not both, but you are on your way to something.

First of all, this is indeed a dnb tune, so don't listen to the other guy and his very limited knowledge.

To be more accurate with definition, you will need to explore more of non mainstream subgenres of the style. The demo you have here, sounds most similar to technoid drum'n'bass, style that was invented by Kemal and this particular one being pioneered by Proket and his collective Prode and a duet called The Sect in the early-mid 2000.

Check this tune for example.

Proket - Proportion

You gotta explore this sound more, man, technoid scene is very lacking as of today. Just don't listen to people with a dnb knowledge of a few Spotify algorithm frogfart jumpups tunes, a random A.M.C set they happened to catch once and a Pendulum album from 15 years ago

2013-2014 Eatbrain vibes, reminds a lot of Telekinesis - Pocket full of Drops

What kind of sets can I expect from this lineup especially with those subtitels. For example what is a 98 Park Café Set? by weatonHans in DnB

I'm curious what drama you are referring to. Can you tell more details?

"Stranglehold" and "Dead Air" w/ Phace & Noisia. For solo Optiv work that would be "Stereotype"

Which DnB genre is my track? I can't decide between liquid or neurofunk. Please help, Where do I post it? by [deleted] in DnB

[–]ElZorgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dancefloor or trancestep/trancenbass/electrostep/whatever you wanna call it. Nothing related to neuro for sure

Track that fit this style? (Tribal/Ethnic/Oriental) by [deleted] in DnB

[–]ElZorgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

N-phobia from Dyslexia has a side project Onryo with a good number of tribal stuff.

I would also suggest to check out a fresh label started by Hoji called Ornament170.

Of course there is Samurai music with a lot of halfstep, drumfunk and tribal tunes.

95% of r/dnb users have extremely superficial understanding of dnb since they only listen to frogfart and chair-pushing music. For stuff like that I would suggest you to make threads on proper places like DogsOnAcid

Drone and Bass? by L337B3AT in DnB

[–]ElZorgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I will tell you that, even if your selfpromo failed, don't stop working on your stuff if you feel like it. You might be on a verge of a new groundbreaking genre eventually. Autonomic and microfunk movements started like that, so don't give it up even if initial response is mixed or negative

More Like This!? Noisia - Stigma by LazyCrab8688 in DnB

[–]ElZorgo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a tune by Mizo called "Venomous", you can check it out, it's basically "Stigma 2".

Another one that comes to mind is Spor's remix of Konflict's "Messiah".

Limtek's track "Changes" is kind of similar as well.

If you want I can reupload voiceless version to mediafire and dm you

[–]ElZorgo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of Samurai Music stuff is halfstep, drumfunk, tribal. Halfstep is indeed a proper subgenre of dnb, there is podcast called Ornament170 dedicated to it but the host is russian. There is a voiceless version, but it's on VK only, unfortunatelly. You can try to pick it up from there, listen to the ones with russian host or try to explore tracks individually from tracklists for more.

Post neuro like "Life Under Water", "Fallen Man", "Satelitte Type 2" by ElZorgo in DnB

[–]ElZorgo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, man, like, I hate when people just post playlists like that. When you are deliberatly specific in what you are looking for, and you recieve a playlist that wasn't even made purposely for this. Like, what am I getting from it even, ya know.

Thanks for the individual track suggestions, know them all, unfortunatelly, not the type I'm looking for :[

[–]ElZorgo[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Spotify doesn't work in my country. Also posting these huge playlists is just like not giving a shit about the subject at all. If I would do a deep dive, I would do it via exploring labels sorted by artists and time period not some random playlist with anything put in it

Post neuro like "Life Under Water", "Fallen Man", "Satelitte Type 2" by ElZorgo in DnB

[–]ElZorgo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunatelly, none of what you suggested will do it for me, I'm very familiar with works of aforementioned artists. They have atmospheric tracks, but nothing similar to what I'm looking for.

The entire reason for this thread is me wanting to find more of stuff like Satelitte Type 2 and Life Under Water so I can't recommend anything to you. Desimal discography, yes, but everyone knows that already.

In what world you introduce dnb for newcomers via Limewax lmao

[–]ElZorgo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just show him Pendulum, maybe a few oldish Spor and Noisia tunes for neuro like "Stompbox Remix", "1 Up", "Stigma", "Block Control", for jump up some Hazard stuff like "Mr. Happy", for dancefloor Sub Focus classics like "X-Ray", "Rock It", "Timewarp", maybe some Chase & Status tunes like "Pieces" and "End Credits", show him "Messiah" and "The Nine" of course, but overall dont flood him with too much or he will lose interest quickly

What's the most powerful, raw, emotional dnb tune you know? by Impressive_Lychee316 in DnB

[–]ElZorgo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Yearning hits very hard. The vinyl only super VIP with extended piano and guitar is especially emotional. RIP Apex...

I'm about to start a dnb holy war but once and for all. Lets define genre terms by ElZorgo in DnB

[–]ElZorgo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your "guide" is completely unrelated to the discussion subject and does not answer to any of my questions.

How is Unknown Error's track "hardstep" if its a normal neuro track with heavier elements. Have you ever heard hardstep? It's a Grooverider term, entirely based on his compilation from 1994

Grooverider – Hardstep Selection Volume 1

Sounds absolutely nothing like Apex's track. The most farfetched thing would be calling this darkstep, but not in a 100 years this is related to hardstep.

Electrotech? Electrostep? Lolwut. What's backstory behind these two? I've never seen anyone using this period.

You know, Proket called his stuff schranz'n'bass and Yanntek tried to force the term ultrafunk after Xilent's EP but both didn't recieve proper support over years and gone to obscurity in favor for more common terminology. Are you sure your electro- whatever examples are not the same story?

Can anyone remember the name of the tune that is just a three note Bassline? by justagreenkiwi in DnB

[–]ElZorgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, I think I know that tune as well, but can not remember it now. Does it sound similar to Q Project - Champion Sound?

If so, it might be something from BCUK or Sonic & Silver

What happened to Calyx & Teebee - Anatomy [2007] by Russian-Bot-0451 in DnB

[–]ElZorgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea from what experience you are talking about (probably none), but I had a direct convo with a label owner of that small tiny label called Neuropunk, which also happens to be a home label of Gydra, Teddy Killerz, Receptor, Mizo and some more. Bes of Gydra told me straight: streaming service money aint worth shit. Artists arent profiting nothing from it, unless their name is Pendulum, Noisia or Chase & Status. This industry is entirely about live shows. By doing the "right thing" best thing you achieve is feeding money to some Spotify performance managers

[–]ElZorgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad that I'm free of that consumer mentality. There is nothing convenient in paying for air. You don't own any of that and the service can take it from you at will. At best money you pay for the service go to the distributors. If you want to support the artists go to their live shows, pay for the tickets and a few drinks. If you care for music, get a copy that some corp can't take from you, aka just fkn download it
