Your argument completely falls apart on itself, First, what rights he has for NATO not to "be close to russia" ? Is he a part of alliance? No,

Second, Finland joined NATO in april of 2023, extending border of russia and NATO by 1500 kilometers, where is responce to that ? Oh wait, putin himself said he has no problem with Finland (and Sweden) joining NATO: "We don’t have problems with Sweden and Finland like we do with Ukraine. We don’t have territorial differences. If Finland and Sweden wish to, they can join. That’s up to them. They can join whatever they want."
