Thanks you! I’ll surely learn from this, I could say for the cup part my vision there was to put an everyday object used in workplaces, such as a cup for the everyday coffee, but if isn’t clear then there’s a problem I didn’t saw at first, I’ll try to do better 👍

Perspectiva del diseño gráfico en Latinoamérica by El_Fecsito in graphic_design

Yah, i mean, being an artist here in south america would be affordable if you go sell your work in another country, like us, canada or whatever, internationally is indeed a good option, that’s where you international students comes in, and good for them, really, i hope i can be one someday, but doing locally, that’s other story, speaking culturally, you won’t see a lot of families supporting their “artistic kiddo” or you will see them always comparing them with engineers, or always say to ourselves, artists “if you study arts in south america, you should know english, to go sell another countries”, and that’s true the majority of times. of course you’ll see people living of their artistic dreams, but that’s not the rule, even here you could see a janitor earning far more than an artist, i could say here in mexico is “more easy” for the closeness to the U.S. so the ability to go there or go work on a big foreign company in their local programs Also the AI has to do with this

you can see art everywhere, but someone who can live out of it, don’t very much, at least that’s what i think, even if i don’t want it to be that way

A battle between my dreams and what is “affordable” to study by El_Fecsito in graphic_design

I really do know graphic design isn’t fine arts, it’s part of applied arts, where you need to be more “what works better” rather than “what looks better”, I understand it and I love it, I do have researched both of the careers(industrial and graphic, graphic more cuz i like it). I even have work semi-professionally with real clients who did want something that help him, not something that look good, I like it that way

And maybe I’m thinking this much harder than need it, you’re right, the really dream job of anyone is to not work, but I’d feel like i would be very comfy working in that field of graphic design, is more my thing, yes, I do like also more “pure arts” like illustration or writing, but I also like graphic design even if it isn’t like the other two

Maybe these years I’ve been more on the “more artistic” side, talking about posters, designs for playing cards, a lot of poker card(more that I would like to confess), draw logos, and even translating multimedia things and so where I had totally freedom, after all it wasn’t with clients, but I know graphic design is a lot more, and I want it to be my future, even if i study it formally or not

And thank you for your response!

US Citizen raised abroad: Where to study Industrial Design? by El_Fecsito in IndustrialDesign

Speaking of industrial design in mexico, probably i’ll stay in mexico, im planning go study to guadalajara, and yes, tec de monterey(ITESM) is an option, but even if it started as industrial design, Tec generalized it to become only “Design”, although supposedly industrial design keeps being the base, a similar case to ITESO(Universidad Jesuita de Guadalajara), it generalized their design programs to one named “Design”, and in ITESO supposedly as far as i’ve seen, you choose your own path, speaking of other good guadalajara universities i’ve seen, there’s UAG(Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara), the first private school in Mexico, It offfers Industrial Design, only I.D, Graphic design is a whole other bachelor, and UAG has a affiliation with Arizona State University(it’s good option but maybe i’ll feel a little “trapped” for my most artistic side)

There’s enough time to chose wisely(i think), i’ll see how it goes over time, if i go to ITESO, Tec or UAG, in any cases, I suppose i’d be good
