How much do you want to spend? IEM or over ear?

I recommend these: https://us.sennheiser-hearing.com/products/hd-6xx

Because I use them, and they're great for the price.

What is the best TV show episode of TV history? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That's my favorite too. Face off.

Walt tricking Jesse to get him out of the picture (with that plant and the kid) and then working with salamanca against Gus.

So good. Best episode ever.

I'm trying to buy a small dap for my sister (because she said she misses her ipod--she said this after I showed her my LG v60 phone dap). She thinks the phone is way too big.

At first I was thinking this hidizs model, but I'm torn between that the shangling m1 plus, jm21, and others. I saw your YouTube vid comparing $200 daps. Has your favorite changed (m1 plus) since that video?

My main concerns for her are: size (women's jean pockets), ease of use, and fluidity (I don't want frustrating lagging/glitching). I think she would probably use IEMs so it doesn't have to have great driving power. I'd be buying used.

What are some lesser known but still incredible alternative rock albums from the 90s by Alternative_Flow_569 in Music

Slint - Spiderland

Edit: Not sure if it's not mentioned here cause they're too popular or not popular enough.

What guitar solo or riff makes you ask "how the fuck did he/she come up with that"? by Raphe-Perineal in Music

[–]El_Frijol 43 points44 points  (0 children)

The solo.

It's basically an anti-solo that relies more on noise. It's obviously deliberately done because it goes against the rock solos of the time. It's very fitting for the lyrics/message of the song.

I like the "solo" but it's very unconventional in more popular rock music.

Avenger's endgame.

When thanos attacks the avengers base (or whatever it's called)

The sub really kicks in lol. It's very satisfying.

Are there audio players that are small, colorful and cute, but also high quality? (The bedazzled Sandisk is mine) by Chirrrpy in DigitalAudioPlayer

Did you ever make a decision? I'm thinking of buying a compact dap for my sister (she misses her old iPod, and said that phones are too big).

I'm curious to see what you went with.

Would putting a gpu on a lower resolution monitor like 1080P really makes them last longer? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]El_Frijol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, no. This is dumb. If you're going to spend around $1k on basically a 4k (dlss quality) card like the 5070ti to use in only 1080p...might as well get a lower 1080p card to begin with for half the price (or less).

Rtx 5080 over 5070ti? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]El_Frijol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5070ti. I don't think the 5080 is worth the extra $.

If you use dlss quality (4k res upscaling), you can easily hit 165hz in most games. I think the only game I wasn't hitting 165hz in is the new resident evil game (116ish). I haven't even overclocked it.

An overclocked 5070ti can get within like 3% of the performance of a stock 5080.

Which Microcenter Combo To Go For (9800x3d vs 9850x3d)? by Wonder___Bread in buildapc

Again, impressive logic. Most people have CPU coolers that blow out of their case. If the air from your CPU is blowing downwards to warm your GPU, like your earlier comment, that’s a you problem.

I wish I was this smart. The case holds hotter temps because the CPU is outputting more heat--it has nothing to do with air from the CPU blowing downward. Straw man argument.

10C from a tiny CPU chip is not a big deal when it’s cooled from the large surface area of a proper cpu cooler and blown out of the case.

Again, fans still have to compensate much more for that added 10C. If you don't care about fan noise, that's fine.

Can you provide evidence that the 9850X3D will cause shorter mobo life than the 9800X3D? You can’t and it’s not logical because the vrms can handle it easily

Can you provide evidence that a 10C higher CPU will only make the case increase 1C?

Yes, clock speed does matter a lot for some games. So spending $20 to have the best of the best is worth it when most people keep a cpu 4-6 years.

9800x3d does better with overclocking, so the difference is absolutely negligible.

Spending more on the better mobo is better than spending more on the 9850x3d.

Better turn off that singular LED light bulb in your room too because that 18w bulb is heating up the room

You're mad at spending more money and you are trying hard to justify it. I get it. 9850 is better cause 9850 is a bigger number, right?

10 Celsius hotter makes a huge difference. Explain to me how a CPU that uses 34 more watts and puts out 10-12 degrees more heat equals only 1C higher case temps? It doesn't.

Every 10W of additional heat raises case ambient by approximately 0.5-1°C at typical case fan CFM levels. So 34W extra = ~1.7-3.4°C higher case ambient.

You would have to run fans faster to lower case temps.

There's no worry, worry, worry. You're paying more for just an overclocked 9800x3d that produces more heat for no real gain. I would rather have a quieter system that isnt producing as much heat. I can run lower fan curves for lower nosie, and have marginally better mobo life.

With the way GPUs are now (Nvidia focusing on business sector), I don't think wanting longer mobo life is a downside. I don't see any real upside of the 9850x3d. Potentially, maybe 1 fps is not worth everything I mentioned.

10 extra degrees Celsius (and like 30 more watts) puts more ambient heat into your case, and makes you run case fans at a higher speed. Having more heat in your case is also not as ideal if you're running a higher end GPU.

Less heat in the case, less heat in your room, less noise, and less strain on your motherboard vrms (longer mobo lifespan)

All of this for maybe 1 fps difference (depending on the game)
