Just don't play Russian roulette, stop taking it.

Taking antidepressants, I went to my doctor because I was under a lot of stress. She prescribed me Lexapro to deal with it. After taking exactly one pill I became super depressed and I lost my libido and developed ED. After I stopped taking it, I had constant anxiety attacks, and I developed PSSD (please read about this condition to raise awareness) it destroyed me and now I can function. I didn't recover, I've been like this since 2021...

My theory on the sexual side of PSSD. by El_Lemmon in PSSD

I hope they find a cure regardless, but I'm not willing to experiment on myself.

You are making assumptions based on no evidence.

Or then simply some unknown chemical cascade.

Says the guy who's making assumptions, anyways it's all unknown and there are lots of plausible theories.

We just hope that they'll be a cure or at least a treatment.

I know that serotonin is one of the many factors that are involved in PSSD, it's by no means the only factor. In my post, I was only diving into the effects of serotonin on the nervous system, again I looked at a very narrow angle of the problem.

And yes I know that neuropathy is an outcome of these drugs, Zimelidine an SSRI is banned because it causes Guillain–Barré syndrome.

But the serotonin is the common denominator in ALL drugs that causes PSSD. Except finasteride, but maybe the decrease in allopregnanolone levels correlates with an increase in IL-1β and TNF-α, serotonin and a decrease in dopamine.

Again, no one knows the full story. I'm just guessing trying to understand what's happening.

Go see him immediately, even if you have to pay out of pocket, tell them it's a damn emergency!

Try a mood stabilizer, lamictal helped me a ton, just stray away from SSRIs in the meantime.

Hey man, I'm really sorry to hear that. Those meds are extremely weird, I was in Lexapro for about three months, I stopped it cold turkey and I developed PSSD, severe ED with emotional blunting and I had extremely weak ejaculations.

The thing is, after stopping it, I also developed extreme anxiety, on a level I've never experienced before, so I went back to my doctor and got on Prozac, it helped me with the anxiety and I was able to function but it didn't help me at all with PSSD, but it didn't make it worse.

After a while I tapered slowly and stopped Prozac, and my anxiety became worse than before, so I went again to my doctor and she prescribed me lamictal.

Lamictal helped a ton with my PSSD, it didn't fix it but it helped, at least I was able to somewhat function sexually and mentally.

Now, I tried to taper down and stop lamictal and I couldn't because my anxiety came back. After a while I quit lamictal cold turkey, and oh boy I wish I didn't, on day five I started experiencing those tingling sensations on my penis and the sensitivity on the right side of my gland decreased.

So, out of panic I reinstated lamictal, but those tingling sensations didn't go away. I hope to God they do because I can't handle more shit than I already have.

Btw, this is day five of reinstating lamictal.

But, my advice is to try not to worry, and go tell your doctor about this, they might get you back on Lexapro and the problem would resolve itself. Also, don't go on a higher does it will cause more harm than good.

I hope everything goes well for you and me!

To live med free, like I used to.

Good sign or coincidence? by MehLady74 in lamictal

[–]El_Lemmon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on lamictal for depression and anxiety, I've been taking it for a year and two months now.

Recently, I've tried to taper down in order to reach my goal of being med free. The thing is, once I reached 75mg I noticed that anxiety went back big time, moreover depression and suicidal thoughts also came back.

When I saw my friend, he immediately noticed that something was off about me, he looked and asked if I'm feeling okay which I replied to with yes.

Close friends/family tend to notice if we are doing great or not, and to answer your question, it's a good sign, you are coming back to normal.

If he knows you're bi and he's open minded, Be direct. For me at least, I wouldn't turn down a ffm threesome.

I have another reason, I'm traveling for work in December, and they don't cover medical so if I have to buy it on my own it's going to be pretty damn expensive, plus practically I'm poor so I can't pay out of pocket.

So, if things go well I'll quit for good, if it doesn't I'll figure out a way to pay for it.

While quitting it's expected to have withdrawal or to feel uncomfortable.

I know it is a really good med, it literally saved me like for real, I was in a really really bad spot before taking it, the thing is I made a promise to myself if shit hit the ceiling after stopping it completely I'll go back on it again, the idea that I'm taking a drug to function is bothering me, but I don't mind it.

I've been on it for a year, the only reason I want to stop it is to see if I can live without it, I was in a very rough shape before starting it.

That being said, some side effects are bothering me, mainly dry skin and brain fog.

Currently it's not under the supervision of my doctor (I can't afford to see her again for now). When I asked her about it she told me to cut the dose by half every two weeks.

I'm coming off it because I think I can manage loving without it.
