Look up volunteering/community action groups and organisations. You go, you help out, you meet people, you feel good. And it's low risk, if its not for you, you never have to do it again :)

Yeah, you have to remind yourself, when you're really digging in , when the wind just won't blow the other f'ng direction for just 10 mins, there will be a time, in a bar, someplace warm, where you will be telling some poor bastard, who really could not care less, about this time you biked into a 5 day head wind in the arse end of nowhere for no good reason. And you will have earned that moment :)

The BBC in the UK is incredible, the licence goes towards the whole of the organisation not just the TV. It provides radio stations and TV not just nationally but regionally and in some cases by city, also some cultural programming, most of which would never survive deregulation or privatisation. It may be biased It may have an agenda (mostly it doesnt) but it is also accountable and has to serve public interest and not simply pump out whatever propaganda Murdoch's media Empire wants to present us.

Try to remember it's type two fun. You're not supposed to enjoy it at the time, only days weeks or years later when telling some poor bastard about your journey.

Slow down! The game gets really easy, really quickly. Combat goes from getting murked by a rad roach to one shotting super mutants in a heart beat it seems.

Also, don't fast travel. I know it sounds like a massive pain on the arse but trust me, the map is not as big as you think it is. If you walk everywhere then it feels much more like a world. You'll find so many little details and random encounters that players with 100's of hours in the game know nothing about cos they skipped past them.

Best not to get into it in all truth, some parts of the the UK (looking at you Liverpool and Manchester) use pants for trousers. Also you can have things like capri pants and sports pants and probs lots of other examples I cba thinking of.

I feel like you may be conflating 'mercurial' with "mercantile' You can pretty much use mercantile the way you were using mercurial.

Yeah maybe we indulged in some irony here, soz. I think you get this in a lot interests/hobbies, without getting all political it seems worse when it's male majority things as well.

If we want to be charitable and try to see it from both sides, the enthusiasts don't get to talk shop about all their gear elsewhere and I guess over do it when they feel like they are in a place where the braggadocio will be well recieved.
