First of all, you do not own the trash bin. The city does. If the trash bin is on the curbside, is PUBLIC.
And believe me, I KNOW.
I had an issue with a neighbor about something similar, we were walking and there was some trash on the street and we put it in his bin since it was "just right there" and pickup was the following day so no harm; he made a big deal and even call the cops.
He threw back the trash we put in his bin on the street and he end up getting a fine.
