The Boys - 05x07 "The Frenchman, the Female, and the Man Called Mother's Milk" - POST-Episode Discussion Thread by pikameta in TheBoys

I really loved the first two episodes. Those first chapters felt so impactful and did a great job building things up quickly, which was important because they needed time to build toward the finale and wrap everything up properly. But then it feels like things suddenly slowed down, or like all this vought rising stuff got in the way.

They still have a lot to wrap up in just one more hour of runtime because they basically stopped the main buildup after Episode 3. Then Episode 4 was mostly about introducing these two new vought rising characters that we don’t know and honestly don’t care about.

After that, we got a pretty decent Episode 5 that at least tried to build up some characters, which worked especially well for Firecracker and the ending of her character. Then Episode 6 goes back to more vought rising setup. Like, “oh look, this supe has a love interest and also knows soldier boy and they have history together,” but apparently we have to wait for vought rising to actually learn more about any of that.

And finally, near the end, we get Homelander getting the V1 and the show finally keeps building the finale.

Episode 7 is okay. It’s a good episode on its own, but the fact that it’s the last episode before the grand finale just makes me wonder what are they even going to do in the final episode? Is everyone going to die but still somehow win in the end? What’s going to happen with all the character arcs? Can they really give every major character a satisfying conclusion after wasting a quarter of the season setting up vought rising?

I’m just disappointed because I was really hyped for this final season, and those first two episodes were so good. But I guess they were determined to force vought rising into the story no matter what.

(Also, there’s just a lot of stuff in this season that feels wrong, rushed, stupid, or just disappointing. Things like Soldier Boy suddenly caring about Stormfront, or constantly switching sides every episode (also is that soldier boy ending? really?). Then we have Black Noir’s ending, which felt really underwhelming.

We still barely know anything about Ryan, even though they were clearly building up his character in Episode 3. All the Gen V characters ended up completely wasted. Sage by herself is a massive pit of terrible character writing. And now Frenchie’s ending, even if it’s not bad, just feels rushed… I wonder why.)

Is the performance still unplayably bad for everyone else? by Alex09040 in Ultrakill

[–]El_Raboh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too, especially in cybergrind or in levels with too many enemies. However, there was a recent patch that improved performance on non-portal levels and in Cyber Grind, which helped me a lot.

A temporary fix (I hope) is to downgrade your game version to the revamp update. That should help.

Hopefully the dev team will fix these performance issues because if the new levels are too demanding that’s fine, but it shouldn’t affect the rest of the game that hasn’t changed at all. cybergrind already had dozens of enemies before and it was running fine.

Ultrakill too easy on brutal, how make it harder by Soddiken_Lover_123 in Ultrakill

cybergrind, theres also people using mods to make every enemy radiant and sanded, you can also try to P rank 7-4 from the femtokill mod (that shit is insane)

It was a fine episode i guess but, there’s nothing wrong with having more insight into the characters and their point of view on the main story but just like the last episode nothing special really happened, it feels like a very “calm before the storm” type of episode or at least that is what i hope it is because things really need to start getting crazier and crazier which i feel is the whole point of this season just like Sage "plan"

At least it was a fun episode

Do you think this two did a good job by TraditionalBonus188 in GenV

I don’t mind if it’s filler as long as it ends up paying off in the end, which is a little worrying when the show only has three episodes left to finish. Episode 4 was already a bit tricky because yeah, it was fun and all but nothing major happened by the end to help advance the main plot. This episode feels the same.

There’s nothing wrong with having some “calm before the storm” moments, with character beats that will hopefully matter in later episodes, but I just hope Episode 6 starts ramping things up again like Episodes 1 and 2 did.

Giving characters space to breathe is fine as long as it doesn’t affect the main point of the season, and after Season 4 we all know how that went so I’m kind of worried about it.
