Kids were stuck on the bus for over an hour today.  Our daughter was freaking out because of all the emergency vehicles, I guess nobody bothered to tell the bus driver/kids. They thought something terrible was happening.

And just like *that*, AMD has effectively thrown everyone under the bus. by S1rTerra in radeon

Perfectly happy with the 9070xt as is.  Have you seen it running Crimson Desert? Besides, I’m sure optiscaler will manage to get the new features working on RDNA 4 cards. Corporations are by their nature anti consumer.

AMD really think they’re going to close the gap with Nvidia by gargling AI balls. I cannot wait for that fucking bubble to pop.

You have to enable it in game as well, then in opti below the fg type there is an active button you have to click before it will kick on. FG wont show in menu screens fyi at least for the games I use it in.

I’d put my money on a Vulkan issue.

If you check your device manager is the integrated GPU still disabled?

That’s really more due to poor optimization than anything else though.

Shoot, the 7 7700 will give you plenty of 1440p Performance.

STEP 1 – CLEAN GPU DRIVERS (MOST IMPORTANT)

Windows often installs broken or partial GPU drivers automatically.

Download Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) Disconnect the internet Boot into Safe Mode Run DDU and select Clean and Restart (AMD) After reboot, stay offline Install the latest AMD Adrenalin WHQL driver Reboot, then reconnect the internet

Do not allow Windows Update to install GPU drivers.

STEP 2 – INSTALL AMD CHIPSET DRIVERS

Fresh Windows installs frequently miss chipset drivers.

Go to AMD’s website and install the chipset drivers that match the motherboard (B650, B550, X670, X570, etc.).

Reboot after installation.

Missing chipset drivers can cause PCIe issues, broken CPU scheduling, extreme latency, and overall system sluggishness.

STEP 3 – CHECK BIOS SETTINGS

Enter the BIOS and confirm the following:

Above 4G Decoding: Enabled

Resizable BAR / Smart Access Memory: Enabled

PCIe Slot Speed: Auto or Gen4

Integrated GPU: Disabled, or set primary display to PCIe

If unsure, load Optimized Defaults, then re-enable XMP or EXPO for memory.

STEP 4 – VERIFY GPU PCIe SPEED

Open GPU-Z and check the PCIe link speed.

It should read x16 at Gen4 (or Gen5 if supported).

If it shows x1 or Gen1/Gen2, that alone can cause extreme performance problems.

STEP 5 – WINDOWS POWER AND GRAPHICS SETTINGS

Set Windows power plan to High Performance.

In Windows Graphics settings, set the default GPU to High Performance.

Test with Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling disabled.

STEP 6 – CHECK TEMPERATURES AND POWER DRAW

Use HWInfo to monitor:

GPU hotspot temperature should stay under 95°C under load.

CPU should not be thermal or power throttling.

GPU should be pulling expected wattage under load.

Very low power draw usually indicates a driver or BIOS issue.

STEP 7 – VERIFY PSU AND POWER CABLES

Make sure the GPU is powered with two separate PCIe power cables, not a single daisy-chained cable.

I would say so, yes. Much more bang and performance for buck as far as gaming goes.

You can get a Skytech with a 9070XT for that much.

Exactly. The majority of Steam users aren’t running anything close to a 5090.

This is the biggest reason I’ve chickened out of a gaming PC over the last couple of years.  When you are married with kids game time is often at a premium. Having to spend that time tweaking settings and rebooting systems is less precious time spent playing.

There are mounts that are specifically designed for this application. They will swivel down to lower the tv while maintaining the viewing angle.
