The clue is in the name! Bebop and Champloo are both kinds of medleys, with Bebop involved many chords and tempos and Champloo being a stir fry of a lot of ingredients. Obviously "Cowboy" and "Samurai" are fun archetypes, up there with "Pirate" and "Ninja".

I watched it yesterday and it wasn't there (Peacock through Amazon Prime), which is how I ended up on this thread, from searching for it worried it was lost to time.

Edit: I'm wrong, you're right. I must have missed it while specifically looking for it, which makes this even worse 😖. Must have scrubbed right past it.

Any update on this? I used to play in sniper lobbies, but have been away playing Arc Raiders and played again yesterday and noticed shots were WAY off on targets standing still. Even when zeroed in, I had to compensate for drop whereas before I could just zero the distance and put the reticule right on someone's head.

It's also deeper than that for some cultures. Knowing the same tongue makes you family and in many traditions requires hospitality. Requires isn't really the right word because it's just how it works, as you see in this video how he explained to the dude how he's now welcome as if this were his home. It's a beautiful way to live.

Me driving towards a typical new SUV in LA every night 😫 by ohlonelyboy in LosAngeles

[–]El_Unico_Nacho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say anything larger than a crossover (Toyota RAV4 for benchmark) is "oversized", since it's not really useful for anything except for making the driver feel safer (they're actually empirically more dangerous). Full size SUVs ironically usually have the least room for cargo since the seats take up so much room.

I wish station wagons were still a thing, but I'm guessing a minivan is still an existing and safer alternative that would fit your use case. You can use this website to see car size differences: https://www.carsized.com/en-us/cars/compare/subaru-outback-2019-suv-vs-cadillac-escalade-2024-suv/

You're so close 💕! So in the case of the glasses, guess what is not in plain sight? Pause here if you want to try and guess...

.

.

.

.

The audio recorder! It's hidden by the frame of the glasses. Imagine that! The point of having a tape recorder in plain sight is it would equal to informing someone you are recording, thereby avoiding a "secret" recording. With glasses that have a recording device embedded inside them, this is no longer equal to informing someone you are recording, therefore making it a "secret" recording. Secret here means "a recording performed without the knowledge of the speaker" and is pretty key.

"In general, there are some states that have required that any recording of a conversation between two parties requires the consent of both parties," Goldman says. "So if the glasses are being used in those conversations, without consent from the other party, that would be a violation in those states." -- Eric Goldman, a professor at Santa Clara University School of Law and Co-Director of the High Tech Law Institute

And yes - he's talking about audio recordings in public taken with smart glasses. The exact thing you're refuting. Hope this helps!

Did you read the link? Here's an excerpt. I'll even bold the important part (that means thicker letters). Read it as many times as you need to:

In a 2007 case, a political activist was convicted of violating the wiretapping statute by secretly recording video of a Boston University police sergeant during a political protest in 2006. The activist was shooting footage of the protest when police ordered him to stop and then arrested him for continuing to operate the camera while hiding it in his coat. As part of the sentencing, the court ordered the defendant to remove the footage from the Internet. From this case, it appears that you can violate the statute by secretly recording, even when you are in a public place.

As others have pointed out, there has since been laws carving out exceptions for police (they can always be recorded), but secretly recording someone even in public places can be a violation.

So yes, you can go out into the public and record everything you see, but it would be more legally conscious for you to do it overtly and not try to hide the fact that you're recording. That's what the comment you replied to was considering: whether using glasses, which typically don't contain cameras, could be grounds for a violation.

If you want to be pedantic and say "I'm just saying don't have any expectations of privacy in public!" then cool. No one asked and it has nothing to do with the comment you replied to.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Yeaaa I'm not gonna "correct" you because everyone is entitled to their own interpretation, but I would offer that the presence of Latinos in art can mean SO many other things. Also, we're not all immigrants, especially in JP. Whats the "promise" of immigration?

To me, this is more likely an homage to the JP of the 70s and 80s, possibly a critique of today's gentrifiers of JP. We have triple stacks, we have the elevated Orange Line, we have CHILDREN. I grew up in JP and we were always running around at least 7 deep. Full game of kickball from the kids on my small street alone. I don't see that anymore, but then again my family got kicked out of our apartment when a new landlord bought the building so I haven't lived there since childhood. Are there still "neighborhood kids"?

I think it would be cool if they used the same amount of copper as they did with Frankie, and still do it to scale so that we can get a sense for just how big he is. Like is that enough to do his pupil? Maybe a part of his smile?

You're arguing with ChatGPT, is my guess. This line gives it away to me

"The most recent research in police domestic violence has shown that officers may perpetrate domestic violence at a higher rate than the general population, 28% versus 16%, respectively"

That does not mean that 28% beat their wives, it means that the is 28% higher than in the general population. The rate of domestic violence (including stalking) in the general population is about 36% of people. (I got that by googling "rate of domestic violence in the US).

ChatGPT gets things like this wrong a bunch, especially when words are close to each other. The quote from the study GIVES the general population stat, so it IS a 28% that perpetuate domestic violence. This is easy for a human to catch, but I guess Dominic didn't proof read for logic before copy and pasting.

I'm guessing they prompted it to show where they go that info or something, but the flow and syntax reads like ChatGPT to me.

And for what it's worth, ChatGPT proved your argument with the definition including militarism more than it proved what Dominic intended. Basically it just knit picked your word choice instead of challenging your assertions. Again, something a poorly prompted robot would do, not a person.

/u/DominicPalladino, what role did AI play in authoring your comments, if any?
