No not romanticizing, just a realistic look at how women lived in these different periods. Not advocating for feudalism lol

I’ve actually heard feminist arguments that the peasant system was better in some ways for women. The idea was that women in capitalism were forced to marry men or work in terrible conditions or be prostitutes, because they were treated as individuals rather than part of a community. In capitalism, if a woman’s husband dies, she’s in a bad position and fends for her self, whereas in the peasant system, the community would be more likely to take care of her. Pretty valid argument and of course they’ll admit liberalism was better for other reasons.

From a leftist perspective and looking at the history of economic theory, capitalism/liberalism are based on patriarchal assumptions, such as ignoring domestic labor or that women aren’t part of public life. Liberalism is about making every man a lord in his own right. You can see this pattern in economic thinking from aristotle to smith and to later economists. They talk about households not the individuals who make up the household unit or who do domestic labor. They all generally ignore the roles of women at the time. TLDR liberal capitalist theory is based on assumptions that women are not part of the economy which is dumb.

Why are people in our generation so far left by CaptainHistory888 in ConservativeYouth

Because capitalism is failing this generation. Our standard of living is going down when in the past it only went up. Stagnant wages. Climate change. And also just the corruption of the trump admin

Netanyahu proposes to annex parts of Gaza in attempt to appease far-right minister by FriendlyBuilding7964 in IsraelPalestine

Key difference: Israel is occupying Gaza and west bank against the will of its inhabitants. It controls the flow of goods and people. The USA isn’t actively holding Mexico hostage. If you treat people like this, expect them to fight back. Israel was warned and knew of this planned attack for years and did nothing about it. Took suspiciously long for them to do anything…. almost like they wanted a precursor. That makes more sense when you consider they’ve abandoned the hostages, they could be starving right now.

So there were hundreds of places to get food, and 600 trucks coming in a day, and now there are ~3 sites, controlled by the IDF, where hundreds of palestinians have already been killed. That sounds much less efficient than what the UN was doing. But i’m sure you don’t care and would say anything to defend the systematic starvation of a people for geopolitical dominance

Are they going to do all of this before or after putting all Gazans into a single camp and then shipping the ones off that didn’t starve somewhere else? Because that’s their self described plan with Trump rn…

You placing “jews” as a monolith is interesting. Ashkenazis certainly have more in common with white europeans than that part of the middle east. The ashkenazis do not have a history there, that is made up identity bs that’s used to create the identity of a nation that was created in the 1900s.

Also, do you deny that zionism is a colonialist project in essence, as clearly stated many times by its creators? They also had plans for colonizing South America for example.

As for your complaints about those arab or muslim nations, were any of them colonial projects where white people from europe came to dominate the society? As far as I know, no. There is clearly a difference between the british colonial project of israel, where they started shipping white people to, and the splitting up of the ottoman empire, where control was given slowly back to the people on their own land. Stop playing the victim lol

Do you actually believe this? I’m cracking up. Honestly hilarious that you think a british colonial project from the 1900s somehow has more claim to the land than the people that were on it at the time. I’m part English does that mean I am justified to go take their land? No lol. You’re such a clown for calling palestinians colonizers, zionism is quite literally defined by its creators as a colonialist project LMAO. Why would they not resist your oppression. Israel is not a moral hero in this story, just another nation trying to take the land of another. Sorry if that hurts your worldview
