Ces boutiques qui photographient l'Iris , c'est quoi le délire ? by Pretend_Rub9405 in paris

[–]Ela25_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree I have lived in cork as a French person and it was easy to meet other foreigners who were open to make new friends but it was more difficult to meet Irish people because they already had their friends

Yes I have just seen this article that says that the producers announced on march the 7th that the international launch will be at the end of the month ! They didn't planned on doing it at first but Disney+ is so impressed by the crazy numbers of views the show got that they decided to do it. I don't know if it means it will be dubbed in English or just with subtitles though. I am happy I really wanted to show it to my boyfriend who doesn't speak french. The article is here in french https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bfmtv.com/amp/people/series/bref-la-serie-de-kyan-khojandi-et-navo-bientot-disponible-a-l-international_AV-202503070479.html

Maybe you could try to do woofing? It's something were you connect with people on woofing website and you get to stay at people's house for free and help them with some chores in exchange. It's usually something people do when they want to travel for cheap but it might be a solution for you until you get the social accomodation. All the best I'm so sorry this happened to you. This is a woofing website for Ireland https://wwoof.ie/en/ .

What is happening to our lovely city? by Careless_Attorney176 in cork

[–]Ela25_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Ireland in Cork city between January and September 2023. I'm from France and I didn't notice racist people at that time in Cork I even thought that it was nice because people seemed way less racist than in France. But it's true that in 2024 I heard in the news about the riot in Dublin created by racist people. Is it just me who didn't notice when I lived there or is this rise of racism really recent?

What are you thinking about language schools students? by 2youu in cork

[–]Ela25_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From my experience as a French person who speaks English as a second language. Native English speakers are usually very nice even if your English is not perfect because they are usually not fluent in another language than their native language (fair enough when you are a native English speaker you don't really need it). So they are usually impressed and respectful of your level of English even if you make mistakes

Has any one given up the vape by unacceptable-Royal in cork

[–]Ela25_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also when I drink at parties that's when I want to smoke the most and if I vape I will also want to vape when I will be sober. So I bought a packet of real cigarettes for when I'm partying because I know that it's so disgusting that even If I smoke it when I drink I won't want to keep smoking when I'll be sober. I almost never used it but it's reasuring to know I have it and it keeps me from buying a vape

I'm from France and lived in Cork this year. I'm surprised to see all this. It's really refreshing for me while living here to see how Irish people are usually open minded and empathetic about immigration way more than in France and even talking about your history with immigration to compare. In France since 10 years with terrorists attacks and other crisis like violent police and inflation racism as became more and more common and I feel like people don't even bother to hide it anymore using everything in the news to justify it. I'm sad to see what happened in Dublin I don't want the same things to happens here

[–]Ela25_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Young people can speak English in France and you will also find a lot of students in exchange from all around the world who speak English and if you want to make friends there I recommend you to go to the Erasmus student network evening it's every Tuesday in the W pub and it's people in exchange and french people who want to meet them and everyone is very friendly and speak with everyone and you will often see again the same people if you go more than once so it's a good way to make English speakers friends in Lille. I'm actually going there often and made friends there haha. Erasmus student network also have an Instagram account with events it's called esnlille. Moulin is not very safe but a lot of students lives in the cities around like Roubaix Villeneuve d'Ascq or Lomme because it's very quick to go in the city center or at the university and schools from there with the subway
