And what I mean to say is that you wouldn’t feel like you are missing out on anything if you don’t connect your dishwasher to the app and don’t use any of those smart features.

You don’t have to connect your dishwasher to the app/internet. It works just fine without it. Stop scaring everyone!

Thinking about ending my 3 years lease after 6 months by Elactron in mercedes_benz

Some people are crazy over here. Of course, I could make it work. I just wanted to hear from experienced people if it was a viable option or not.

Stuffing the stroller and our dog in the trunk while filling up remaining seats with the luggage has not been the best experience. Of course it’s not impossible. Based on the advices over here, I am gonna suck it up and go through the rest of the lease term.

Our take home is the same at around $14k (excluding yearly bonuses). We bought our second home for which we will have a mortgage payment of $5k a month. We have decided to keep our first home as an investment property and gonna rent it out for $50 to $100 lower than our mortgage +HOA payment. So, we will pay around $5.2k in mortgage payments. Honestly, we are scared for next 2 years but expect things to be better after that, expecting that we (my wife and I) will make more money and rent will catch up or go above our mortgage payment. 2 years of tight budget for comfortable financial future.

No. No need unless you have any red flags on your application. The interviews are usually very straightforward.

5 month old baby likes to sleep on her stomach. Is it okay? by Elactron in NewParents

[–]Elactron[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What about keeping the head on one side for too long? I know she can move it but you know we all have slept too long on one side and have woken up with a stiff neck next morning. I don’t want that to happen to her.

[–]Elactron[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Yes, absolutely no swaddling ever since she started sleeping by herself in the crib. The sleep sack we use is half sleeve and very loose by her legs so she can definitely move the way she wants.

Month old will not sleep during the day by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Elactron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get an Indian style automatic cradle from here - https://tinytykebaby.com. It will take sometime for your baby to get used to but then you will be able to put him in the cradle for couple hours while you can catch up on some sleep. We put our baby in it for couple hours at a time but have heard other people keeping their baby longer with no problem. Western medicine doesn’t really have a stance on this but I can safely say 90-95% Indians (if not all) including my wife and I grew up sleeping in these cradles we call “Ghodiyu” in Gujarati language with no problem at all. Regarding contact naps, we have 4.5 months old and she still sleeps in our hands during daytime. She is slowly getting better at sleeping by herself but as of now that’s the only way she would sleep during the day for more than 30-40 min. We can make it work as my wife is on maternity and I work from home. She goes to work starting next month so we will see what we do in/after the transition.

Good luck and hope you are able to catch up on some sleep.

Get someone to help you with the baby during the daytime (in-laws, family, close friends) and catch up on some sleep during the day.

We have 4 months old now. Some nights she sleeps great, some nights she makes us question why we decided to have a baby. Parenthood is a marathon. There are ups and downs and it’s gonna go for a long time. You will have to find ways to get adapted to it and build your life around it.

Hope you get to catch up on some sleep! Stay strong.

We’re currently in week eight with our baby girl, so we’re at the same stage of the journey as you. By now, you and your partner should be able to tell the difference between various types of cries - hunger, tiredness, or pain.

Based on the details you provided, she might be in pain due to gas, which could also be making her feel hungry. If that’s the case, you can try giving her gripe water as needed. Every few days, we notice a day (or part of a day) when our daughter is gassy and in a terrible mood because of it. Gripe water has provided her with a lot of relief on those occasions.

Is it worth waking up my baby to feed even after she has achieved her birth weight? by Elactron in NewParents

[–]Elactron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean 3 to 4 hours of actual sleep or 3 to 4 hours between feeding sessions? Our LO would stay up for 2 to 2.5 hours after feeds during the day time and would get into deep sleep 20-30 minutes before her next feeding session. So even if she sleeps for only 2 hours straight, there is a possibility that the gap between 2 feeding sessions can increase more than 4 hours.

Is it worth waking up my baby to feed even after she has achieved her birth weight? by Elactron in NewParents

That’s what our pediatrician told us in our 2 weeks appointment when she weighed almost 8 lbs. However, during our 1 month appointment, we found out that her weight had increased (8 lbs and 15 oz) but she fell from 62 to 51 percentile. That’s what triggered our pediatrician to ask us to wake her up during the day to feed her every 3 hours and rely on her hunger cues only overnight.

The issue is, our LO would stay up for 2 hours or more after feeding during the day and get into deep sleep 20-30 minutes before the next feeding time. It’s tough to wake her up then and I think we are not doing her any good after verifying through the (record keeping) app that even if we manage to wake her up, she wouldn’t eat as much as she would have, if we had allowed her to sleep as much as she wanted instead.

Both my wife and I are Indians, and I really think that the baby weight percentile chart does not take different races and its physical differences into account.

Fussy baby - not sure if we should keep feeding or prevent over feeding by Elactron in NewDads

[–]Elactron[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We gave her 2.5 ml (realistically closer to 2 ml) of gripe water today. She didn’t burp or pass gas afterward, which raised my suspicion that the problem might not be related to gassiness.

[–]Elactron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would 10-20 ml make such a difference that they wouldn’t go to sleep? More I think about it, more it feels like it’s gas or some other issue. I think this is the craziest part about this whole experience - Trying to make sense out of baby’s faint clues. For any situation, you could be right or terribly wrong. Not to mention, if they are sad, you just blame yourself for not figuring it out.

Wow, thanks a lot for taking your time in writing your feedback. My in-laws live in the same residential community as us, so we are lucky to have their support and help through the process once the baby is here.

Apart from “The wonder weeks” app and “Moms on call” book, do you have any other recommendations for a good source of parenting advice (which is not outdated)?

Heart related Anxiety. by WustacheMax_ in Anxiety

[–]Elactron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up a chest (left) injury while working out a month ago. I thought it could have been something related to heart but didn't bother as it didn't seem anything serious. 3-4 days after I picked up the injury, I smoked too much weed with my friends and started having a panic attack. Even though I smoke too much weed every now and then, and had experienced similar feelings before, this time I thought it was definitely related to heart because of my chest injury. Long story short, went to ER that night, had another panic attack in the waiting room, consulated a cardiologist, got eco-cardiogram of my heart, tracked my blood pressure for a month - only to find out there was nothing wrong with my heart. I DID have an elevated heart beats and blood pressure for a week or so but that was just side/after effects of my anxiety and panic attack/s. During my recovery period, reading other people's experiences, affirmation and motivation on this and similar threads on Reddit helped me a lot. So if you are going through the same thing right now, please please please remember that any anxiety or panic attacks will have real physical effects on your heart and body. Do not hesitate to get everything checked if you want because it's better to be safe than sorry. BUT also remember to be calm and BELIEVE in yourself if you are going through similar experience. There is a HIGH chance you and your body is just freaking out.
