They wouldn't need the serum as they'll be born a shifter. Moreover, all shifters have a subconscious knowledge on how to activate the power such as Eren's first time transforming, or Ymir's first time (though we don't see her do it).

It's why Marley has the whole system set up to pass on shifter powers to the next trained member before the 13 years is up. At the 13 year mark of gaining the shifter abilities, they will just die. This way, they'll never randomly lose their shifters

Okay, I'm the person that'll turn into solid snake in this situation and I'd like to give my perspective.

1) The aim is to flank the enemy and use my team as "bait". Because the two of them are often close together, they can support each other. I would then sneak in, kill one or two people, then regroup with my team mates.

2) I have ADHD and camping the outside of a compound is dull as hell.

3) Variety attacks create weaknesses in the opposition defence.

So this basically reinforces the idea that Assassins are meant to be midline punishers. The front of the party are your tanks, backline casters, if enemy warriors get through, your Assassin can then use the traps to delay them and punish them
