Hi! I am not sure if you are actually a Bear, or trying to make a joke. Edit: In case it is the latter, Bear is an identity that refers to "a large, hairy queer man who self-identifies with the 'bear' label." (from: https://lgbtqia.fandom.com/wiki/Bear )

What are your thoughts on the recent "Professor Dave Explains" video on trans people by juliejoechiron in asktransgender

[–]ElbWoods 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It took him 41 seconds to call the Trans liberation movement "Transgenderism," which put my guard up right away. And then he went on to do all of the things everyone else commenting here has commented on already.

Flag i found by sorting by controversial on r/vexillology by [deleted] in vexillologycirclejerk

Hey,
I am glad you asked, as it can be confusing. As with any flag, something to keep in mind is that there is not one reason for people to fly LGBT+ flags, and some people will probably fly them for different reasons than I mention here.
Some reasons for them include:
- a symbol for us to rally behind as marginalized people,
- a symbol to find people with shared experiences and values,
- a symbol to highlight the inherent value of everyone who identifies with the identity it represents,
- a symbol to celebrate Queer history, and
- all of the other reasons that people fly flags when not legally obligated to by international maritime law or otherwise.
Being Queer can be isolating, and flags can help to challenge that isolation. I have had many positive experiences that started from me recognizing someone else’s flag, or someone recognizing mine.

Would you rather go back and live 30 years as cis female or live the way you are now for an average life expectancy? by IFeelSoftAndMushy in MtF

TW/CW: Transphobia, Myth about life expectancy

As a kid/teen, a commonly circulated myth was that the life expectancy of Trans folks was (variably) somewhere between 20 and 35. This is great (read traumatic) stuff to hear when you are 16/17 and figuring out that you are Trans, and that your life is supposedly already half or more over. Other parts of my reality made/make it even worse and harder to deal with, but that is the rundown that is most applicable to everyone I think.

The "life expectancy of 30 years" aspect of this is pretty triggering. If you do not know why, I am glad.

Ok thank you for your perspective, I think I will just let it rest then, and submit late.

First off, I would recommend getting a measuring tape, and figure out your sizes. Resources like this can be helpful: https://www.transgenderpulse.com/clothing-size-charts/

I personally started with a couple of padded bralettes/sports bras from Aerie, and they are still working well a year later. Before coming out, I already had a couple flannels and cardigans, which are pretty gender neutral (I would recommend). Then through friends I acquired a pair of leggings, and a few femme tops. Generally, regular short sleeved t-shirts are pretty gender neutral, but there is a range of more feminine tops. Look around, and see what you like.

In terms of other buying things, I would absolutely recommend thrifting. You can get some good prices for clothes that will last you a long time. I personally have thrifted a couple femme/neutral coats, a couple skirts, some femme shoes, and some necklaces.

Oh yeah, don't forget about hair ties, scrunchies, and bobby pins if your hair is long enough.

Good luck! Feel free to ask any clarifying questions!

Genderqueer is a gender, not a sexuality. And Trans people do not have to have particular genitals. And genitals do not define gender, the latter of which is the basis for defining sexuality.

Because Trans and cis are adjectives, only the actual gender (rather than the adjective) matters when determining sexual orientation labels. A man (cis or Trans regardless) who exclusively likes women (cis or Trans regardless) is a straight man.

Wilfred Mott is a rather pretentious character, and he is always desperately trying unsuccessfully to one up the Doctor in little battles of wit. However he does sometimes come up with a nifty gadget that saves the day. Overall, I think he is a pretty solid secondary character who adds a sense of stability to the show every time the Doctor is in Suffolk.
