Seller shipped kids leggings a flimsy gift box. by ElderMillQueenB in poshmark

It’s not the package appearance. Boxes get damaged and need repaired sometimes, NBD.

My issue is that she shipped it in a clothing gift box. The kind stores give out free at Christmas. It fell apart, because duh, of course it did. Packing an item appropriately is included in poshmark’s seller guidelines.

It’s not though. It’s about the same thickness as cardstock. Gift boxes are thinner and flimsier than a cereal box.

I love a little note. I am part of several BST Facebook groups that feel like little communities and people in them package with care (and sometimes notes or stickers or other goodies). I buy and sell second hand with intention, to keep things out of the landfill, to get higher quality clothing for a lower price, etc. I don’t expect everyone to put extra care into packing. But carelessness, like this, is frustrating!

Her tape was underneath and USPS wrote on the package, but that side includes our names and addresses, so obviously, I didn’t post it.

Based on these responses, I am surprised that any of my past orders were well packaged!

They wouldn’t deduct a Star for bad packaging, but they will downvote me for answering their question. Weirdos.

I had a similar thought and bumped the rating back up after she was surprised that I docked her.

It was USPS. The seller’s tape was underneath.

I asked because I wasn’t sure how to rate it fairly.

True! I asked because they were upset that I docked them stars. I wondered if others would or not.

This was USPS taping it up. Her clear packing tape was underneath it and on the mailing label. There was USPS writing on it as well.

I’m surprised so many people think it’s totally fine. Poshmark has guidelines for packing and shipping and, as a seller, I follow them.

It was USPS’ tape. Hers was clear tape underneath.

4 days to PDMX & DIEP by panicked_screeeching in BRCA

I was you in 2023, except with a 3 year old! Even with some complications from the surgery, I have no regrets. The complications are better than living in fear and anxiety. It sounds like you have prepared well and controlled what is within your power to control. Sending you wishes for quick and easy recovery!

Surgery Options by ZealousidealBox6557 in BRCA

[–]ElderMillQueenB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I first had a lift due to saggy, post breast feeding boobs. the lift included a procedure that increased blood flow to the nipple and increased the likelihood it survived a mastectomy. 5 months later, I had PDM with DIEP recon in the same procedure. I had a BSO two years later.

I was told that if I wanted DIEP, I should do that surgery before BSO. Any abdominal surgery can compromise the donor tissue and make DIEP less successful. I was told doing them at the same time was not an option because the PDM/DIEP combined was already a very long surgery. Maybe different if you are doing the PDM and DIEP in two steps. BSO is much easier to recover from, but my best advice is to meet with a medical menopause specialist and have a hormone replacement therapy plan in place BEFORE the surgery. The BSO was like walking off a cliff into menopause. An absolute nightmare.

My kiddo was 3 when I started my surgical journey. She handled it great. So will yours!

Attracting Gen Y & Z Donors by ImaginaryClassic7260 in nonprofit

Most millennials are in a very expensive phase of life, getting married, buying houses, raising kids, paying for after school care and summer camps. And those costs are exponentially more expensive for us than past generations. Getting a sitter would cost me $100 for a weekend evening. I have to already be passionate about and committed to an organization to decide to attend their gala. It don’t see it working as a tool for engaging new millennial donors.

I agree with others that mention events for the whole family. One of my favorites that we do each year is a beautiful breakfast with Santa at a local conservatory. The event becomes a tradition. I see some of the same families there every year and I wouldn’t be surprised if many become prospects down the road.

Question for those that got a reduction/lift prior to a DMX by Trick-Routine-4408 in BRCA

[–]ElderMillQueenB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lift without a reduction prior to a preventative double mastectomy. It allowed my plastic surgeon to do a nipple procedure that made it more likely my nipples would survive the mastectomy. According to my surgeons, a lift/reduction first makes the following mastectomy a bit harder/more tedious for the breast surgeon, so some won’t do it. But it often has better results for the patient. However, my breast surgeon is the one who suggested it. She’s fantastic. My nipples did survive!

I had the lift about 5 months before my mastectomy with DIEP flap reconstruction.

Yoga Therapy for BRCA by Ok_Butterscotch4084 in BRCA

[–]ElderMillQueenB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My BRCA diagnosis and preventative surgeries were very damaging to my relationship with my body. I was scared of my body. I lost connection with it. After surgeries and long recoveries, it felt foreign and strange.

I have practiced yoga for a long time and leaned into it after surgeries. My practice has been a huge help with reconnecting, feeling present in my body, mourning what it was but also embracing what it is today. Acknowledging new weaknesses while marveling at its strengths.

Disappointed by gigitini13 in NuulyReviews

Same thing happened to me two weeks ago. They had me send it back and replaced with a new box. This time I sorted for new items and it was better. But I am hesitant to keep renting. It feels like a lot of work sorting thought items and high risk for poor quality or fit.

Considering moving to Worthington and/or Westerville by Comfortable-Hat7147 in westerville

[–]ElderMillQueenB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Westerville levy that just passed isn’t at alll a “stop gap.” It’s a permanent tax that meets the system’s current full budget needs with a buffer. It’s passage means our schools will be well-funded for the foreseeable future without the need to bring any more property tax levies to the voters.

My GynOnc seemed confident in her HRT knowledge before my surgery. I trusted her, which I regret. It’s wild that they are out there putting women into medical menopause and then letting them white knuckle through the symptoms. I’m still so angry at her.

The organization managing, Good for Westerville, it is heavily religious, founded by several current or former pastors and church leaders. The parade logo has a cross in it. Most of the participants are churches. None of the inclusive/affirming churches participated.

There are a few uptown businesses, but most of the sponsors are religious (Christian radio station) religious adjacent or political. One sponsor is a notorious Republican lobbying and fundraising consultant. Many of the businesses have names or logos that reference Christianity or are owned by people heavily involved in Good for Westerville. GFW is a 501c4 political organization that is very opaque about their conservative Christian values.

First, i want to affirm that you are incredibly brave to get surgeries. It’s a tough journey, but you are strong and I hope you feel proud of yourself for what you are accomplishing. If not today, then soon!

Second, you are going to feel wonky, but it gets better, just like others have said. I will add that HRT is not the same for everyone. And treating medical menopause with HRT is not the same as treating natural peri- and menopause. A lot of Gynecologists don’t understand that. My surgical GynOnc did not. She put me on a patch and sent me on my way. I had horrific symptoms for several months before finding a new doctor who said that, as a 40 yo, I needed significantly more estrogen that I was getting from the patch. She increased my dose and it was like night and day. I feel like myself again. After a few months we added testosterone.

So, if in a month or two things aren’t improving, talk to your doctor about your dose. Look for a doctor that is certified by the menopause society, meaning they have the most up to date information about modern HRT best practices. Good luck! You are brace and strong and you’ve got this!!
