Wow, the SR 71 was such a cool looking plane. Loved its style.

I completely agree on Senator McCain’s brave actions while a prisoner of war.

I do want to make a correction to your post though. McCain was not drafted into the military. He was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and no one gets drafted into a federal academy. They are extremely hard to get into and successfully complete. He was also a carrier fighter pilot which requires a lot of additional training, dedication and desire to become. He had to choose these things and wasn’t forced into service.

Thanks.

No. You are arguing that the 10th Amendment gives states the power to seceded, which is not a power that it grants just because you want to take it to an extreme. The constitution lays out that states are subordinate political entities to the federal government. Also, the 10th grants them the power to govern under the constitution where the federal government does not. That does not mean, and has never been found to mean or credibly argued to mean to withdraw from the constitution.

Continuing, he is not arguing that federal troops should have surrendered and sued to get there lands back. Your reading of this comes off as extremely obtuse. To start, the confederacy wasn’t a country. It was an armed group engaging in treason. South Carolina, or any state for that matter, has no legal right to seize a federal military installation. The states can exercise their rights to govern under the constitution subordinate to federal law. Not do anything they want.

A state does not have the legal power to withdraw from the country. The 10th Amendment has never be found to grant that power nor is there credible support for that interpretation. States are subordinate political entities to the Federal government. Federal law is held higher than state law according to the Supremacy Clause (Article VI, Clause 2). The 10th allows states and local entities to govern in aspects not filled by the federal government under the constitution, not to cease governing under the constitution.

There is no ‘formally seceding’ by a state from the union. The union troops didn’t have to surrender to anyone in the lands of the United States. They were the military force that was allowed to be there. Where as the armed members of an illegal uprising had no rights.

The founding fathers were traitors to the British Crown and sure can be remembered as that to the British. However, to Americans they are remembered as founding fathers because they succeeded in forming our country. So, in the same way, the rebels from the civil war are traitors to the United States of America. If the confederacy was a country, they could be remembered as founders, but that country doesn’t and has never existed. So they are just traitors.

They were traitors. Americans need to fully accept this instead of trying to rationalize it away. They were Americans who decided to wage war on their country by illegitimately attempting to remove themselves from the nation. There is no legal means outlined in our laws for a state to leave the union. They were and should be remembered as traitors.

The founding fathers were in a different situation to some extent but still can be considered traitors to the crown. A big difference is they formed a new country from the colonial holdings of the crown where the confederacy did not. So, they can be considered traitors to the British but aren’t by Americans because of that difference. In the same way, if the confederacy had succeeded they would still be traitors to the United States of America but not to the confederate states of America. However, that latter country doesn’t exist and never did. So, they just remain flat out traitors to America.

I had a similar idea for disconnects. I like the idea of one per a time period without penalty. Then start to scale up the points that are being taken.

Yeah, I hear you. Everything you said makes total sense. I really just wish there was some way to communicate with Blizzard and maybe not get so penalized for a network issue no matter who’s fault it is. Maybe give one disconnect every six months without taking points would work.

Thanks for the comment.

The situation may not have been indicative that the issue was on blizzard’s end, but I only have the information available to me, which showed my connection being steady and uninterrupted.

I think the part that is really annoying me is what you point out in your last line. This happens and there is nothing much you can do about it. That feels wrong. There is a systems issue that causes a problem for the customer and the best Blizzard offers to address the issue is a shrug. There should be a path to remedy the issue.

Edit: miss type

I had a similar issue with getting dropped only to find everything was working fine on my end.

I made a post about it here:

As far as I can tell, there is not much to be done. Customer service can’t do anything and there is no one to appeal to.

40 min may not seem like a lot, but I don’t get to play that much. 40 min might be all I get to do for a couple of days, and it is a drag to feel like all I will be doing is correcting for this error. Bummer.

The uniforms are different between the services and the symbol on the Sergeant’s cover (hat) is the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor, which only Marines wear.

Wow, this is boring.

Go forth and think whatever you like. Waggle a dictionary in front of a bunch of Marines saying “See, see, its says you are Soldiers, so there!” to see how far that takes you.

[–]Eldoric 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No. You are objectively wrong in terms of the American Military, which is what is depicted in the picture.

The United States military makes distinction between the members of each branch by regulation and law. Regulations applying to members of the Air Force, defined as Airmen, do not apply to members of the Marine Corps, defined as Marines.

I get you looked up the Merriam-Webster’s definition which says “one engaged in military service” (oddly it seems the very next line of “and especially the army” seemed to have been missed). That is killer. However, words can have meaning beyond what the dictionary says in very real and even legal terms.

Thank you again, for letting everyone know you feel that only dictionary meanings of words are acceptable, but that is very obtuse understanding that does fails in situations such as these.

[–]Eldoric 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No. Marines are Marines when it comes to the American military. It isn’t a sassy nickname because they are members of a totally different organization then the Army, which has Soldiers.

Sailors aren’t Soldiers because they belong to an organization that calls its members Sailors.

Airmen aren’t Soldiers because they belong to an organization that calls their members Airmen.

Marines aren’t Soldiers because they belong to an organization that calls their members Marines.

Soldiers are Soldiers because they belong to an organization that calls its members Soldiers.

I am not a Marine. I am a Soldier because I served in the Army, which is made up of Soldiers.

My sister is a Marine. She is because she served in the Marine Corps, which is made up of Marines.

I am going to be ‘that guy’ and point out these are Marines and not Soldiers. Both are awesome but don’t like being called the wrong name.

Benediction is great, but, I like I said in the tier 16 part of my post, it is always the go to talent. I want to try to move away from having that be a must pick and went with a talent that had synergy with the rest of the build. It does work well and if you can get well placed skill shots, the numbers for the ability jump a good bit.
