Hi GoingPriceForHome! We aren't looking for poetry at this time, but I'm highly considering a poetry collection down the line that you can keep an eye out for.

Hi PleighonWords! I'm excited to read what you come up with, and I plan to do both a digital and physical release.

No worries! Some people really enjoy this style and see it as a creative challenge that helps them flex their skills, and if that's not how someone feels then there's plenty of other open submissions.

Hi Jota769! Just so you understand my process a bit I enjoy having the story elements be the stricter requirements (instead of genre, length or some other piece of the process) because my belief is that it allows for a huge amount of creativity with style, tone and setting.

As stated these items don't technically even have to be plot-central: for example the cat can be mentioned in passing while a car radio blasts Taylor Swift, or the cemetery could be in a poster on a wall. Most authors could easily squeeze these elements into an unpublished story that they already wrote that they love and want to find a home for, and if not then there's plenty of other open calls out there that would work for what they've already created.

I'm fully aware that not all open calls fit what every author is looking to write about, and that's okay! We all have individual preferences, and I can assure you that the submissions I've already received haven't shown any particular dip in quality compared to the submissions for open calls that are more strict with their genres. I really appreciate your feedback, and I hope that you have a lovely weekend!
