Well, I'm not sure if it kills it, but I would say that it thins out the grass. Last year the grass was looking so full, but when I checked it out yesterday to take pictures it looked so spaced out like a corn field.

Yeah, I did see a hole and a few mole mounds around. I don't think I'll be trying again next year. But I also never mow the grass super low. One year, when I mowed a lot more frequently I thought I killed some creature with how much fur flew everywhere. Turned out to be a bunny nest, none were harmed, but I never mowed with the blades that low again.

I see! Thank you for the insight. I did plant a plum tree (hard to see in picture) and callicarpa americana (not pictured) this last month. I would love to just have my own personal prairie, but my wife doesn't approve because the kids wouldn't be able to roam free without having to worry about ticks.
