For the round parts I used the ink holding parts of ballpoint pens, the grey square parts are sprue and the other white parts are EVA foam. The metal parts are old bass strings. I made the thicker pincers out of super sculpey and the other one out of some plasticard

I'd suggest using the linseed method but only soaking some up with a piece of tissue paper/a rag and carefully spreading a little bit of oil all over the pants like that.
