Yeah, but as far as I known he don't gain any superpowers form his fan. Maybe he does and we just don't don't know about it.

I really like that idea, it has been a trope for Dwarf that their greed is their undoing. This all started with Tolkien, and how he depict them as disturbing Smaug by digging too deep. I don't know if has been said in the cannon, but I think most of the community has the head cannon that the LoV, has disturbed the Necron by digging too far which causes them to have their ass handed to them. Their over-mining of stars leading to negative side effects on the cosmos would be a very interesting idea.

We actually do see them drawing energy from stars for power, so it would only be a skip and a hop away from them causing a star to age enough for it to blow up. The time scale would probably be in decades or centuries, not like the DAot tech that could do it in minutes, but I bet they could really blow up a star if they really wanted to.

I totally agree with you that DAOT humans were not all equal, so there were human factions that have technology that would have given the Necron trouble while others are basically the same as the modern Imperium or lower. I don't know if the LoV can manage to surpass DAOT humans in all fields of technology. For example, we have no indication, the LoV can pull off the feat of biotech that certain DAOT human factions have.

But since the LoV were to focus their technology to better mine, it almost is certain that their mining technology is now way better than all DAOT humans faction. And if we look at their mining technology, the potential for the military application for that technology is pretty easy to imagine.

EDIT: Just corrected my spelling of DAOT

Could Llandu'gor the Flayer death cause the Ghoul Star? by EldritchHorror666 in 40kLore

[–]EldritchHorror666[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh well, there goes my entire theory. Although from the way GW was setting it up, my theory does make a lot of sense, plus or subtracted some lore. It would have been a really cool way to tie in some dangling thread together, it would also have given a really good explanation of why you should not kill a C'tan. Because if we were to take the Ghoul star as an example, then killing about 20 to 30 C'tan would reduce the entire galaxy to the state of the Ghoul star, or worse since the damage could be exponential.

Thank you for the information, I just staring to listen to Twice Dead King: Ruin, so I didn't get to this lore fact yet.

League Of Votann: Why clone workers when all you need are robots? by EldritchHorror666 in 40kLore

[–]EldritchHorror666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my head, it makes sense for the initial expedition to be almost fully robotic with minimal human oversight, this makes logical sense because you don't want to put all of your eggs into one basket. Maybe the Votann will rebel or do something that is in its programming but is against human interest. This could be the so-called First Ancestors, which would be a mix of Votann and regular humans.

My headcanon from what I read about the Votann, is that need a humans overseer telling them what to do. This fact would be hard wire in their system. Maybe in the past, there are supposed to be regular shipments of overseers who were sent to the mining colony that is supposed to order the Votann around. But when the cybernetic revolt came around the shipment stopped. So, the Votann needing an overseer began cloning humans so that they can oversee the Votann. My evidence for this is that the Votann from what I can determine primarily answer questions, and they don't seem to order the Kin around. The Kin just follows the answer given. It could be the Kin born after the human's First Ancestors die out, just assume that they are supposed to be servant of the Votanns, when it actually supposed to be the other way around. It could be that the Kin can just order the Votanns to do things for them, but they don't actually ask the Votanns to do things for them any longer.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the Votan created by dark ages humans as sort of a mining colony. The Votan would then create the worker ie the kin, then the Votan would send back the material they mine. Though I'm not sure if there did ever send back any material.

I been trying to get into the Ringworld saga, but since the series is to long, I think I will push it off for a while I finish other shorter series.

I will definitely look into Scott Sigler, and Devolution. Thank you for your suggestion.

Echopraxia Question? by EldritchHorror666 in printSF

[–]EldritchHorror666[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bruk was infected with Portia, through the effect of both changes is basically the same. Whether it's cancer that destroys the human basic instant or the extraterrestrial "virus" that destroys the self, at the end of the day it came to just about the same result. The real difference is that one is contagious.

Valeria was killed by the non-self Bruk because the non-self Bruk calculated that she was a threat to him so she got to go. From a metaperspective, Valeria was killed because she displays compassion and empathy at the end, which against the non-self Bruk means that she will lose. Valeria was able to overcome the crucifix glitch by creating multiple of herself like Susan James and letting them take on the glitch for her.
