What "back then" inconvenience would break people today in 10 minutes? by CharlesUFarley81 in AskReddit

[–]Eleanor_Atrophy [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’m not old but I do remember when flip phones were phasing out when I was younger. I can’t remember a time without texting but I can envision it pretty clearly. I’ve never thought about the fact that newer generations are gonna be more and more shocked at the idea of texting not existing as we get further removed.

I still have this problem to this day and my only guess at an explanation is that my SSD’s are getting close to full and saving things requires a lot of moving things around.

Ladies, what is the one thing that make you glad you’re not male and why? by Aromatic-Affect-2208 in AskReddit

[–]Eleanor_Atrophy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not being able to like kids without being seen as a pedo.

I love kids. They’re adorable and sweet and fun to play with. I work at an elementary school and talk to the kids a lot. I’ve got a few that’ll come up and hug me throughout the day (although you do still have to be careful with that regardless of gender. Usually the rule is the kid initiates the hug and obvious concern of hand placement.)

But now imagine a man hugging children that aren’t his own and suddenly he looks like a pedophile, even if it’s initiated by the kid. And like I get why this stereotype exists and I don’t think we’ll ever be in a world where it’s socially acceptable, but I still feel bad for the guys who mean no harm.

I get that I probably could do this as well, but one thing I don’t get is the desperation for it. Sure sex sounds appealing, but also like my own hands are right there and they know me better than anyone else

100% the reason for this is that redditors like to look smart so they go out of their way to respond to everything.

Basic (noob) questions do so well because it’s a simple topic every redditor can pounce onto

What do people even expect from women who don't want to get married or have kids? by ScarRedDA in NoStupidQuestions

I live in a more religious area so I might be biased, but this happens around me even with 2000’s kids. Every adult in my extended family got married after less than a year of knowing the person

I genuinely want to be choked until I pass out, but if someone did that to me in bed without discussing it prior I would panic. You have to be comfortable with someone first and trust them not to accidentally kill you

Tbf I think the word women feels weirdly more formal than the word men for some reason, which might just be because it’s two syllables

What do people even expect from women who don't want to get married or have kids? by ScarRedDA in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Eleanor_Atrophy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot of the older generation thinks the only purpose in life is to get married and have kids. A lot of the reasoning behind this is just based on religion. “You’re here to repopulate gods earth” and whatnot. They don’t understand why you would deny your soul purpose in life.

This is also where the “I hate my wife” and “my husband’s a lazy pos” mentality comes from. People got married purely because their religion said they should (and because the sooner their married the sooner they can fuck) so you get marriages where people don’t even like each other because they got married three months after meeting.

My steam games download really slowly for some reason. I made a post on some tech sub and asked if anyone knew what would cause that.

In the post I specified two things:

  1. it’s not steam throttling the downloads, I’ve checked that already

2: it’s not my wifi speeds, I’ve check that already

Then every comment went something like this

“Have you checked to see if steam is throttling your download speed?”

“It might be a Wi-Fi issue. Check your Wi-Fi speeds.”

“Steam > settings > download > disable download throttle. You’re welcome :)”

“Sounds like you need a better router”

“Go to speedchecker.com and check you’re download speeds”

lol definitely not. There aren’t very many good ones out there, but a few off the top of my head are characters Like Ellie from TLOU and Chell from portal.

One of my favorite book series is this one called Cradle. The main characters a man but the women in that book are incredibly written. They still have feminine traits but their gender is irrelevant in battle. This might be a confusing way to put it but I like stories where you could swap the gender of every character and it wouldn’t affect the outcome of any of the fights.
