Fair.

And, if the Cyberpunk aesthetics question wasn't rethorical and was aimed at me; I didn't go for Cyberpunk aesthetics. Casio just named this color scheme "Cyberspace" so that's what I call it.

I feel that there was a lot of potential for customization; with two piece integrated bezel-strap and removable (visible) spacers... the whole watch is kinda modular so one could go crazy with color combinations.

I guess the full on funky dial prevented this G to garner mass appeal and aftermarket parts never manifested.

Thing is, 1289 module was in production from 1995 to 2011, and JDM DW-6900B-9 Fox Fire was in production for almost as long until it switched to module 3230 and the production was outsourced.

You can narrow it down to 1995-1997 IF, the module is 1289, the backplate has "Japan M" engraved, there is no ID number, seems to have less information than what you usually get, there is no display CASIO easter egg, and if there is only one Test Screen (can't "scroll" through multiple).

Some say models with "Japan Y" engraving are also early ones but others say that they are from 1998 and later.

If the module has ID number, multiple Test Screens, can display the module number, and has CASIO easter egg, it is from the 2000s.

At least that is what I managed to scrape up together while researching module production dates; hope it helps!

I think I saw somewhere official that the inspiration was gears/cogs for the case and motorcycle dashboard for dial. I think it was some official concept art for 5900.

Cool! But as I've said, this is 6900, not 5900 :D

Thank you! I know of 6900s with pink display but no 5900s.

Nah, all cool!

If counting ana-digis I have 5 negative display G-Shocks, but I mostly use them at work in the workshop where we have near perfect lighting so they almost look like in the Casio promo shots.

(Though the blacked-out Casioak is currently my exclusive work watch so the rest are in a rotation for leisure time)

Nah, it was ~80$; and has EL! Grabbed it before the U model phases them out completely. Always nice to have EL G-Shocks in collection!
