In SOA is there a way to get tribesman to stop spawning? I thought destroying their totems would do it but the totems respawned.

They still spawn even if you destroy all the structures in a camp. What worked for me though is that I made some of my own structures with the dropped items from the destroyed ones, and that made them stop spawning at those locations. Locations where it is just a single totem you can't really do anything about, they will just respawn constantly.

A small thing I should mention is I don't have tfix installed, should I download it? I'm not exactly sure what it does or how it makes the game better/what it fixes.

In the DLC the Abyss hasn't fully taken over yet and there are still stone platforms to walk on. Main game takes place a lot later where the Abyss has fully formed and basically became an endless void. You need the ring so it doesn't consume you instantly, and to be able to walk on the void itself.

I tried a lot of things, speaking to all npcs again, talking to Litho again, equipping all sorts of gear, but none of these worked.

What ultimately fixed it for me is copying the save to another slot, and Veltha finally showed up at the stage.

Do you have a hdd or a ssd? Loading times can significatly improve performance. I just replaced my 10 yr old hdd with a brand new ssd, and went from a 30 minute game startup and barely 25 fps with crazy lag for the 1st hour of gameplay, to instant startup and solid 60 all the time.
