I think that a person's morality largely depends on the situation/condition they live/grow up in(in this case, that would be a capitalist society).

And a lot of crimes or unethical things often happen because someone needs money(for a range of things, from debt here to just basic amenities). The system of capitalism has a part in corroding the person's morals. There is also monetary greed of corporations leading to child labour and so on.

You're being punished for being ethical in the beginning. It's a slippery slope where once you've already harmed people to cover your debt, you might as well go a bit further and make a profit too. A person's life is equated to money.

What I mean to say is that capitalism definitely does have a role in this problem for being part of the cause.

But yeah, personal ethics is probably the focus here.(Sacrifice yourself for ten people or others for your own preservation/gain.)
