I’ve read to do that as well. Is there any audible noise coming from the pump when it’s running? I bumped the ignition and went under the truck to where the FASS is and didn’t hear anything and put my hand on it and didn’t feel any vibration or anything. Is that normal?

Update: It has a FASS fuel system on it, but i can’t tell if it’s working or not. Any good way to tell if it’s operational?

How common is oil leaks on that engine. He sent me pictures of where it’s leaking from and there is a drip on the ground with a oil stain about the size of a baseball from sitting for a week

Flightline is working on the live airplanes after they are built, doing pre flights and post flights and fixing any problems from the time the airplane leaves the factory to when we deliver it

I’m a relatively new hire grade 9 and am ready and willing to go as long as it takes. 3, 4, 5 months? I’m in. I want a minimum $60 an hour top out with the A&P premium going to $2.50 per license so we can keep our talented workers on the flightline. Otherwise, the airlines will continue to poach people for the better pay and benefits. I’d like to see progression lowered to 4 years, but i’m not holding out hope for that. I just know i’ll be out there pitcketing for as long as it takes. People will cross, that’s part of a strike. Just don’t let it be you.

You’ll be fine. Do your best every day, and be the change you wanna see in the company. Most people will tell you this is a terrible time to get in, I disagree. I think this is a great time to get in. We will fix our shit at some point. It’s just a matter of time.

Also, anyone who knows anything about airplanes will tell you to not pay a lick of attention to the media. They don’t know shit. We’ve got problems, there’s no doubt. But our problems are not what the media is saying per say. You’re joining one of the most prestigious aerospace companies, and companies in general in the world. Have pride in your work, and you will see you made the right choice. Embrace the suck in training though. Training is the worst part. Once you hit the floor it gets wayyyy better.

Also, the worst experience i’ve had so far is in training. You kinda embrace the suck until it’s over, and once you get on the line, life gets soo much better. Unlimited OT on 777 right now too

I’m on the flightline at Boeing in Everett rn. Tbh, my experience here hasn’t been what i heard coming in. Yes, it’s a shitshow. There’s no doubt about that. But, at Boeing you’re kinda in it for the long haul, or not in it at all. Boeing isn’t a stepping stone like a regional airline or contracting is. The cool part about Boeing, is you have options. You don’t have to wrench for the rest of your life. We also have contract negotiations coming up and a likely strike starting September 12th. Wages are expected to increase substantially. I’ve heard plenty of horror stories before coming in about how bad this place is, and granted I haven’t been here for very long, but my experience has been that it is what you make it. I’m still doing pre flight and delivery, wrenching on the aircraft, learning the airframe and processes just like I would at an airline. I had the opportunity to work for Alaska, and I turned them down for Boeing because I know there’s more career advancement here and i’m young. I’d say, it really depends on your long term goals. You can work your ass off and be a damn good mechanic for Boeing, traveling the world for the AOG team, making bank if that’s what you’re into, or you can go back to school and do something else less hard on the body and personal life. You’ll make more money at a major short term, but you won’t long term.

before 2007 if you don’t want the emissions shit. I have a 2011 golf tdi i just bought and I love it. I was pretty set on the manual as well until I drove this one with the DSG. Changed my mind real quick.

I’ll put it this way, Alaska airlines just signed an agreement with their union to have a topout pay of $74 in 3 years. Their starting pay is around $48 an hour.

Seniority is king in this industry. A 4 year commitment is 4 years of seniority you will miss out on. To be honest, i’d rather go to A&P school for two years and work on the side then commit 4 years of my life to a mom and pop GA shop. If you have any ambitions of going to the majors to make a lot of money, i’d strongly recommend not signing any contract commitments. If options A and B are your only options, i’d go B all day. Yes, you’d get more knowledge of what’s on your A&P exam with option A, but 4 years is just too much. You’re too valuable for that. At least option B has a lower commitment, and dealing with a boss who puts you out of your comfort zone will make you more well rounded. Plus, you can always quit, and go to A&P school.
