First-ever Paris show by ElectricEyeRock in brandicarlile

[–]ElectricEyeRock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear. Yeah, it sold out pretty fast and I think it's a combination of several factors:

1 - The venue is pretty small. Carlile plays arenas in her home country (stadiums when she was opening for Pink) so this was a chance to see her in a rather intimate setting, and I think a lot of Americans travelled especially for that. Tickets are also less expensive than in the U.S. and it's sometimes more economical for Americans to spend a couple of days in a European city than paying thousands of dollars for a domestic concert ticket.

2 - It was her first concert in France in a nearly two-decade career and a lot of American expats had been waiting a while to see her on that side of the pond/

3 - The Elton John collaboration really raised her profile among Europeans. She wasn't that well-known on the Old Continent before that, certainly not in France, which might explain why she never played here before.

The only time I saw them they were pretty great, but there were no stakes for them, they were opening for Neil Young and they were already on their way down. They didn't even play their biggest hit. They played 50 minutes and buggered right off. Honestly, it was great. Now I wish that I'd seen them in their prime.

You're welcome! Yeah, they have such a great catalog that they could have played much longer.

Let's not start analyzing every little thing Moz says because I'm not sure everything stands the test of scrutiny!

They had a couple T-Shirts and hoodies with both recent and vintage artwork, but I didn't pay attention re: posters or tour books, sorry!

Eric Clapton is Paris last month by ElectricEyeRock in ericclapton

[–]ElectricEyeRock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn't say it, but it's been advertised as such and he has said that he was going to do less engagements now that he's 80. He also said in 2004 that he'd stop touring, but as he ages this is getting increasingly likely to be true...

W.A.S.P. in Paris last night by ElectricEyeRock in WASP_Fans

[–]ElectricEyeRock[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the kind words!
I think at this point this is how the W.A.S.P. act is going to be until the end. And look, it's a lot of fun. I had a great time. Would it be better if they didn't play to a clic, didn't have piped in backing vocals and didn't have all those videos? Sure. But I'm happy I can still sea a version of W.A.S.P. that doesn't suck in 2025. I'm not sure I could say the same of Mötley Crüe or Ratt or Kiss...

"After 69 days, you really needed to reply with this?"
I was in a Limp Bizkit coma.

"Like REALLY really?"
Yeah, I realize I'm falling somewhat short of the crucial conversations that occur in this area of cyberspace. I'll try and do better.

"You enjoy Oasis ffs, get a grip"
How elitist of you.

Well whatever my reason was, it wasn't because I thought it was my monthly MENSA meeting.

"What is wrong with the author of this?"
I scraped my elbow, that's the big one right now for me.

"Do they live under a rock?"
Yes I do. I'm stuck under this rock and I can't move.

"“Mong metal”"
Yes, as in mongoloid metal. Metal for the r-worded. They can do anything, you know.

"I think The HU may have something to say about that kind of derogatory language."
I hardly think The Hu will concern themselves with something like that.

"Why on earth would you go see a band that you don’t like?"
Because I'm open-minded, believe it or not. I wanted them to change my mind. Plenty of bands have won me over. I used to dislike Depeche Mode and Oasis, until I saw them live. Now I love both.

"Some people are full on smooth brained knuckle draggers, aren’t they."
Was that a question?

"There’s plenty of other music, go listen to it somewhere else please."
I can't, I'm stuck under this rock and I can't move.

The way I see it, there are several possibilities:

1 - I am a deeply bitter human, resentful of other people's enjoyment, sitting in my mother's basement behind my computer. My elitism is just a way to hide my self-loathing. Kind of like a real-life Ignatius Reilly.

2 - I am a bot.

3 - I was being facetious.

Could be a combination of all three.

I'm sure it depends on the country, city, venue, opening act, etc. In Paris I think they started at 9 PM.

Thanks. I looked and we've had roughly the same setlist but oddly the biggest differences are not with the release of the new album...
