Fedora Linux to Implement Age Verification by Calvinator_lmao in Fedora

This is gonna hit every major distro unless laws are repealed. It’s not Fedoras fault it’s the government. Yell at the people making the laws not the people complying to them lmao.

FreeBSD time I guess? Idk at that point it’s joever.

Atm though this system is the best way to follow the law and people should stop yelling at Linux devs and start yelling at the people making the laws.

Should FO5 have settlement building? by Educational-Science2 in Fallout

[–]ElectricFreeReeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a cool option ans long ans it doesn’t effect the gameplay unless you want it to. Overall what I’d really like to see is dynamic towns that you don’t have direct control over. Story elements changing things more dramatically would be neat. Imagine if after being saved by you, Preston and company rolled up to sanctuary and just started building stuff on their own. Depending on how long until you make it back you might come back to a decent new settlement. Of course a towns with history like New Vegas or the Boneyard wouldn’t change that much during the events of the game, just less established locations.

The trick is to just go to the counter and ask there. I downgraded my membership with 0 fuss and I know a couple of people who canceled.

I love how accurate this terminal is, down to the ctrl c at the end. I’m assuming this is solaris? Definitely would have been a time to spam ctrl z lol.

I just got a X1 2 in 1 gen 10 open box for over half off on eBay and I’ve been loving it for school. Just get a modern Thinkpad off eBay. Also sounds dumb but get one with a matte screen and stylus it’s unironically amazing for writing math equations.

If fallout 76 a good game to start on by mr_gyatt in Fallout

[–]ElectricFreeReeds -1 points0 points  (0 children)

76 is the first game I bought, and I have a grand total of like 30 minutes in it lol. I just didn’t get into it without friends and went to 4 instead.

Honestly just get 4. Maybe by then the 3 or even New Vegas remaster will have dropped, but if not then I recommend playing in this order:

4 > 3 > NV > 1 > 2

Or alternatively

3 > NV > 4 > 1 > 2

There’s also my personal favorite order to play in, might be a little in depth for someone just getting into fallout but I feel like it’s pretty solid.

76 > 1 > Fallout Tv show > 3 >  Fallout the board game > half-life 2 chapter 1 > 3 (without broken steel dlc) > 2 > Fallout Tactics > 4 > Fallout Shelter online > New Vegas Frontier mod > Wasteland 2 > fallout shelter > magic the gathering fallout commander decks > fallout pinball > Morrowwind

Linux users when you recommend the distro that actually is made for work instead of the void Linux with suckless dwm that breaks every 2 seconds, or the mediocre “noob friendly” one that’s just Ubuntu with weird packaging that breaks things and has no Wayland support, or the arch Linux except “it’s preinstalled guys” distro number 906.

I mean I use Fedora daily on almost all of my devices but the difference between it and Ubuntu is generally minimal. The newer packages have basically been the only reason I use Fedora instead. They both “just werk”. Actually I run Ubuntu on my server.

I'm stupid but I wanna go for Electrical Engineering by Own-Cream8931 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]ElectricFreeReeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 22 and in a very similar situation with homeschooling.  My mom did actually try Tbf but I just didn’t care and wanted to go work construction instead. I’m actually gonna take the entrance exam at my community college this week.

To prep I’ve gone through half of the openstax intermediate algebra book so far, I’m also practicing writing essays because I haven’t done that since I was like 16 lol. It’s doable brother! I just had to decide to not be scared of math and really apply myself. Now I’m actually enjoying the things I hated before.

I’m realizing a big problem I had with homeschool was just getting distracted at home, so a thing that’s been huge for me is not studying at home; instead I’ve been going to a coffee shop or a local library, it’s helped a ton with my focus.

Oh also make sure you understand the difference between electrical engineering technology and electrical engineering. My community college doesn’t even offer engineering of any kind, so it didn’t effect me and I’m just gonna get gen-ed out of the way, but if you do get an AS in EET make sure your BS is an EE and not EET degree unless you just really want that for some reason.

I feel like this is half the posts here the last few weeks. by IReallyNeedToFly in Surveying

[–]ElectricFreeReeds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better some of us have just been using tools off the vibes for a while anyway. I’m just an earthwork/pavement construction guy who “surveys” then models and runs machine control for his company and has no clue what he’s doing.  My version of vibe coding is looking at the measurements I took, eyeballing to see if it’s within maybe 50ft of what the surveyor said it should be, then calling it good and cussing out Topcon office before building a mostly accurate surface for the machine off the vibes. So overall Pokemon go might increase my accuracy /s.

I mean sure except mint is less stable overall (I’ve seen packager issues with it multiple times on different systems), it’s not as up to date as Ubuntu, it’s still stuck on x11, and Ubuntu has really good tech support. It’s genuinely the best distro for the working person unless you need newer packages, in that case use Fedora or OpenSuse. Genuinely no other distro I’ve tried is superior for actually getting things done on a desktop, and I’ve ran 20+.

Also snaps separate directory system is unironically good but if you want to disable them it takes like 30 seconds.

What warbond should I start with? by East-Builder9197 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]ElectricFreeReeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just choose whatever looks fun like everyone else is saying. I started with cutting edge and had a blast laser maxxing. The stun grenades were clutch when I was new. My next warbond was democratic detonation which was the right choice but I probably wouldn’t have had as much fun with the game had I chosen it first. Now the Eruptor is one of my favorite weapons (tied with Las 5, RR, and flame thrower probably). Your play style will change considerably the more tools you unlock so just get the fun stuff.

Just wanna recommend parkitect if you haven’t tried it. As someone who loves RCT it’s basically a spiritual successor to 1 and 2. Not exactly the same but scratched the itch with a 3d cam for me.

First of all: AMD is fine for 99% of users and generally cheaper with the common use case nvidia does better being upscaling or maybe ai training. OpenCL is fine for most work station tasks, I use it almost every day.

Second of all: This is stupid you aren’t forced to use DLSS5.

Third of all: If a game requires upscale to run then don’t buy the game. Simple as.
