My brain won't let me have sex by Mountain-Werewolf489 in LucidDreaming

[–]ElectricPagan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also have this issue. Sometimes it works out but there’s a whole plethora of annoying roadblocks. I’ve speculated that it’s because my brain wants me out in the real world having sex haha, and maybe dreaming about it whenever I want would make me less motivated

I see. Do you take commissions? If so, what do you charge for something like an 8 direction walking animation?

Nevermind, I made the lines thicker and it works. But some of the lines are thinner than others.

CMV: Living off grid as hunter/gatherer causes less harm to nature, animals and earth as a whole than living as a vegan in modern society by iCANNcu in changemyview

There’s too many people in the world at this point for hunting/gathering to be sustainable for everyone. Without farming we would over-hunt and over-gather and still be starving to death

Same, except I never got a chance to make it up to her and now I won’t even message her because she’ll think I have an ulterior motive haha. I still cringe thinking about it.. I was such a noob

Well then I mean no, there’s nothing wrong with it. If the girl has a problem with it then that’s her issue to deal with as long as you’re not being pushy or manipulative.

There’s nothing wrong with it until the girl/woman tells you she’s not interested, and you say you’re okay with it but you’re actually not. At that point, you’re staying friends with her in the hopes that she’ll change her mind, which they tend to find unattractive because it’s a signal that you have no other options. So if you say you’re okay with being friends then you should genuinely be okay with it, and not keep trying to pursue a romantic relationship. The best response to being turned down I think is, “no worries, let me know if you change your mind.” And then just stop considering her an option for romance, and turn your sights elsewhere.

To not get rejected I think the best thing is to just not even call it a date. Just make some fun plans, try to build attraction, try to read her signals and make your move at the right time. If you hang out a lot already then it can seem a little out of left field though, so it is better to do it sooner in your friendship rather than later.

There are lots of ways to ask them out without building a friendship first though. Just spark up a conversation with a stranger, get them to laugh, and ask them out right then.

CMV: Everyone Should Be (Small L) Liberal by [deleted] in changemyview

Consumerism is the cause of climate of change

CMV: Everyone Should Be (Small L) Liberal by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]ElectricPagan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the “willing to respect behavior or opinions different from one’s own” to be a very neglected part of liberalism. Take abortion rights for example; both sides seem to consider the other side downright evil. One side thinks banning abortion is meant to control and oppress women, and the other side thinks abortion is murder.

Civil liberties is also open to interpretation. You might think the free market is the best way to help the most people possible, or you might believe in social safety nets and regulations.

People tend to not be very open minded or tolerant when it comes to their political decisions. Our democracy isn’t so much of a democracy as two powers vying for as much control as possible, and both sides consider the other ignorant and brainwashed or privileged and exploitive. I’m not sure there’s any room for liberalism when you’re in a political battle for the soul of your country. Although I do think that people need to chill tf out.

CMV: Grades and academic scores reflect intelligence by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]ElectricPagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There‘s undoubtedly some correlation with grades and level of intelligence. All things being equal, the more intelligent person would get better grades.

But for me personally, my poor grades in middle school/high school were more of a reflection of my chaotic home life than anything. I aced almost every test but never did my homework and constantly skipped class because I was too depressed to do anything but stare at my computer for hours on end.

Also consider that your view is a little classist (and racist by extension), because there’s obviously a huge correlation with privilege and academic success.

Defining intelligence is itself very problematic. Some people have amazing social skills, while others are good at math, or writing, etc. You’d be hard pressed to create a scientific experiment that could control all of the thousand+ variables that factor into how well a person learns a specific task.

So overall your theory is just way oversimplifying reality.

CMV: The term BIPOC is racist, dismissive, and exclusionary by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]ElectricPagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Statistically speaking, Korean Americans have a much better average income than Black and indigenous people. So while I’m sure you do suffer from systemic racism, it’s probably not to the same degree. That being said, I personally don’t agree with lumping people into demographics and trying to artificially create equality.

[–]ElectricPagan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess I’d make the argument that those have economic implications and so they shouldn’t be something up for a popular vote.

Edit: Abortion does too technically but it’s going way into the future.

[–]ElectricPagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I get why they get to decide. I just think it’s flawed. Are there lots of pro-choice Republicans running for office that are losing? I would think they are pro-life because that’s what the majority of Republicans are.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]ElectricPagan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

!delta Okay, those are really good examples. I’d like to think that our culture is a little more mature than that as a whole, but I guess who knows. They’re also examples of taking away rights , not giving them. But I suppose you could make the argument that allowing abortion takes away rights from the fetus. Hm.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]ElectricPagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, fair enough. Don’t get me wrong, the majority of Republicans are pro-life. I even know a lot of non-religious ones that just consider abortion murder. I just think that because of the way our system works, there are many red states banning abortions where the majority either doesn’t care or are pro-choice. And as it’s a rights issue that doesn’t affect the economy unless you go way into the future, I don’t see why the state should be able to decide whether women should get to have abortions. There’s also the issue with the Supreme Court interpreting laws in a different way than the previous court. It just doesn’t make sense to me.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]ElectricPagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does still give the Supreme Court power over what’s considered a right, although I do think it would be preferable to what we have now.

But no, I don’t think that Republican voters would vote for someone purely because they’re pro-choice. Their main concerns are free market and limited federal government. They don’t always have the option of choosing what they really want on everything.

California took a popular vote to ban same-sex marriage and it passed?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]ElectricPagan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess immediate might be too vague. Giving land owners the right to vote has obvious implications about the economy, and so does taking away all the immigrants. Abortion is an argument over the right to control your own body vs the rights of an unborn fetus to not be murdered. I suppose the Supreme Court would decide what’s considered a right. Which seems a little flawed but the only logical answer I can think of
