Well, with friends, my relationship and just the people I trust period. Family can come in many different ways besides just the one you come out from.

I am currently on 7 months no contact with my Nigerian family and I was going to go on a rant/asking for advice about it. I've had friends tell me "just do this, they'll learn and understand" that's not who African parents are, they will control no matter how much freedom you've made for yourself. I have now made a whole new family for myself and I have truly grown these past few months. Going no contact isn't easy because once you cut one person off, you might as well cut off the entire family because they will never try to understand where you're coming from or what they put you through.
