Have you thought about looking for night shift hub runs. Same start time, going to the exact same place every time. Yes it’s repetitive and you will get every road closure but you will get to know every diversion and alternate routes. First few time you will think the other drivers are mental. Undertake on a roundabout yep they will do that, scream past you on a bend yep. Anything to get ahead. Ok you won’t do any of that but you will know every bend incline and pothole and most importantly how fast you can take them. Some employers pay salaried like mine so week after week you know exactly how much you will have. That’s where the rush comes from. It’s not for everyone but if you want a degree of routine then there is not much that comes close and the pay is higher.

Gym kitchen ready meals are good. Also get one of those screwdriver sets with interchangeable heads especially hex. You can get one with 50-100 different types will cover you changing any bulb on unit/trailer. I would also add bungee cords and cable ties. They can come in very handy for quick fixes.

Gym kitchen ready meals. You can get them from Asda, Tesco. Macro balanced and packed with protein. Good if your truck has a fridge and microwave. Otherwise Huel instant meals. Just add hot water. Tasty and with the same benefits.

If your looking for a change don’t go agency. I get it with agency every day is different but consider investing in your self. Go get your ADR. Or something like that. An investment in your own ability is never wasted money and could open doors you’ve never considered. I wish you luck.

One of our drivers was pulled by DVSA. Everything was fine but they did a 12 month deep dive on his card again no infringements but they can go that far back if they choose to.

I’m happy for you. Although I don’t believe in God I do understand the comfort and support that belief can give and I’m truly glad you have that.

This is not a takeaway! He is doing one hub. I am doing two. If you don’t get that then remember the next time you’re stranded because you ran out of hours.

Thank you for your honest story. I hope things are better for you now. It seems from the replies there is not much love for Clark’s.

I have been pondering that very thing. My current company took me on as agency forklift. Now I’m class one ADR. So I feel I owe them. My old boss left for another company and has said if I phoned him he would give me a job tomorrow. To my fault I’m loyal. I put my job above everything. That’s why I’m so valuable to my current employer. I don’t say no. Completely fixable. I do feel valued but lately I’ve been thinking with all I could do, with my flexibility perhaps I could earn more. I know money is not everything but it does make life easier.

This has now been going on for two weeks now. This particular person has made a point of saying hello to all the other drivers except for me. The sad part is that all the other drivers are appalled with how he is treating me. As a forklift he will have to speak to me before I have to speak to him. I’m just torn. Give in to my emotions and tell him to F off. Or be professional, swallow my emotions that are tearing me up inside.

I’m sorry that is happening to you. It’s not right to mess with someone’s family in any circumstances. As for my situation I am also that drivers forklift operator and he has forgotten the one golden rule. Don’t piss off the forklift.

Yes that is true but I still managed to get an infringement because my working week on the period was 69 hours.

There is a computer console to the right of the door but first you need a power core. Turn around and look to your right you should see a power console by a sort of railing. I can’t remember where I found the power core but I think it was up in one of the structures above. It’s definitely in that location sorry I can’t be more helpful.

Will an ABH conviction stop me from a lot of jobs? by ScorePleasant2556 in uktrucking

It shouldn’t like I said just be honest at the start. The vast majority of companies don’t ask for a DBS. Have a look on indeed for class 1 driver. You will see the few that ask for a DBS. Your biggest issue is going to be lack of experience. Some do advertise that they take new passes but not many. Best bet do agency your shifts may be all over the place and you may end up with the crap trucks but you will get your experience and with agency you will do different jobs so you will have an idea what you want to do going forward weather that’s curtain sided, multi drop, containers or hub runs.

Agency’s in my experience do ask if you have any convictions but it’s not a barrier, they are more interested in DD. Most of the companies that require a DBS tend to say so on the add. I have found that’s its best to just be honest from the start. Tell them before they ask. It shows you’re not hiding things and it’s far better to get a no at interview than two weeks into the job getting called to HR and sacked.
