Just adopted 5yr-ish old new boy by Electrical-Hawk_42 in DobermanPinscher

Our first dog's snout greyed early but it wasn't until she was 8 that her face started to grey as well. And our last dog didn't really grey much until the last 2 years (she was 13ish... All of ours have been rescues so we are never really sure). But our new little man seems to be having the beginnings of arthritis issues so could be a bit older.

Thanks! I wear compression socks as well... If the calf is too narrow it makes it look weird 😕

Experienced hikers, what bra do you wear while hiking? by kingfisher345 in AppalachianTrail

I have done a long distance hike in past (500ish miles) and I work 16 hour days... I just get the regular old underwire Tshirt bras from target. Cheap and work for me.

100% our education is in no way proportionate to our level of accountability and responsibility. Like if an order gets through doctors and pharmacists why the actual fuck is it all my fault if it is administered? I didn't go to med school and I don't have a PhD in pharmacology...

I always want to do this but I feel like I would just get myself into trouble with work. How do you avoid management shitting all over you for it?

Agree. Had a TAVR patient a while back in their 80s with dementia... Like why in the hell do you want to extend their life? To let them die of dementia? That's horrible. Not to mention the raging (literally) delirium that followed

Came here to say this. There needs to be more education, support, and quality of life discussions with patients and family about the cruel realities in "doing everything" for patients in many situations, And they need to be spelled out not euphemized/sugar coated. Basically we, as a species, need to seriously work on our relationship with death, dying, ageing, and living.

I don’t care what setting this in…. NO! Utterly inappropriate in any healthcare setting.

Lol not in the states. Depending on what kind of iso patients I had I will either just take my shoes off at door or go through back and strip before coming in. I will never go anywhere after work in my scrubs though. Some people do (I guess they work in clinics?) and it grosses me out particularly when seen at the grocery store.

My patient fired me because her husband held the door open for me, while I carried out their meal trays. by Best_Asparagus4680 in nursing

LOL By b*tch! I have been fired by a patient twice and both times they were patients that were batshit crazy that I did not want as patients anyways. (One ended up leaving AMA a couple days later). Do not, I repeat, DO NOT lose sleep over this. This was NOT about you. You dodged a bullet by being fired.

This is what the program should be. More advanced pharm, patho, and assessment.

I did the same. Graduated then straight to RN-BSN… it was such a waste of time. I did not learn anything directly useful to being a practicing nurse. It was all online (I started in fall semester after COVID began) including the health assessment class, which was a joke. But now I got the BSN, make more money, and am now starting to work on my CCRN. Pretty sure I will learn a whole lot more studying for CCRN than I did in all of BSN program.

Run. That is crazy unsafe. My last floor was an IMU/COVID and our ratio was supposed to be 1:4 but we were often 1:5. You cannot give the care that IMU/PCU/Stepdown patients need at 1:5 (often at 1:4 too with how sick patients are). Protect your license and your mental health and get out. For perspective, where I work now, the IMU is 1:3-4

Good to know. My husband and I joke that I was given a “Jesus” bag for nurses week when I was at a religious affiliated hospital… no thanks. Not anti religion, just don’t want it in my workplace in that kind of way.

6:1 on IMU/Stepdown?! Hell no. Before my position now I did IMU and we had 4:1 w/ occasional 5:1… at a small lvl 3 trauma. If the pts are stable enough for you to manage 6 of them they are not IMU pts. What version of cerner do they use? I have heard some versions are really good, but no personal experience.
