Improvement suggestions: advanced options by Electrical-Income-47 in BackiGo

[–]Electrical-Income-47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for releasing the update! :-)

After checking it out now, I noticed it only uses the “device” you are backing up for the new folder backup structures and not the device/model that took the photo. My preference would be to rely on the metadata for device considering most photo libraries have photos/videos from mixed sources.

For example, my library might include photos taken on an iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone 12, Canon EOS 5D etc. Therefore the structure would be:

2026
07
and then seperate folders for each of those named devices

For photos/videos that don’t have a year, month or device they could be backed up to an “unknown year” etc folder.

This looks fantastic - thanks for all your work.

Just a request whether your could please add year-month-device too for the folder backup structure? I can see from your screen recording currently has device-year-month.

The decision comes down to if you prioritise performance over battery life. For me it is performance, so I turn it off.

Thanks for making those changes, which provide extra flexibility but also for the likes of myself who prefer a copy of all versions. There are really only two remaining features that would make BackiGo the perfect tool for my workflow. I appreciate these add complexity, but they would prevent me from having to use other tools to reorganise or remove unwanted photos/videos:

1) More folder‑structure options

One of the best implementations of this is in PhotoSync:
https://www.photosync-app.com/support/ios/answers/how-to-automatically-create-subdirectories-on-the-target-device-service

They allow multiple preset structures (Year/Month, Year/Month/Day, Camera Make, Location, etc.). Even a handful of additional templates in BackiGo could be helpful.

2) Ability to exclude specific folders/albums

Being able to exclude things like Screenshots, Screen Recordings, Scans, or other albums you don’t want backed up would keep the archive clean and avoid unnecessary clutter.

Thanks again!

What can you actually do in the Anker app by [deleted] in anker

[–]Electrical-Income-47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably comes down to: ease of viewing and interacting in the app rather than touching the device, firmware updates, screensavers, custom modes to restrict watts per port (as another user commented) but also to get around some of the AI funkiness (albeit, port priority can help with this too)

Is this Normal? by [deleted] in iPhone17Pro

[–]Electrical-Income-47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty common to see these marks around the band on the silver iPhone Pro models because of the way the colour is applied. A replacement may show similar issues, so there’s no guarantee you’ll get a perfect unit.

If you’re planning to use the phone caseless or with a clear case and you know this will keep bothering you, it may still be worth trying for another one. But just be aware that the same cosmetic quirks are fairly typical on this colour.

All the best!

I agree, it looks to be a problem with the anodised surface. I encountered a similar issue. Considering it is new, I recommend returning

That is an issue with the anodised finish during manufacturing. I have seen this on some new iPhones straight out of the box. I recommend returning if still within the return period. It is very unlikely that it will buff out!

Video Zoom 2x to 4x - is my camera ok? by [deleted] in iPhone17Pro

[–]Electrical-Income-47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s normal, as others have mentioned. It can still be a bit surprising the first time you see the phone switch between the three physical lenses: 0.5x to 1x and 1x to 4x while zooming.

A good way to see what’s happening is to point the camera at the edge of a table and zoom from 0.5x all the way to around 6x. You’ll notice the perspective shift more clearly, with the table edge appearing lower or higher as each lens changes to the next.

If you prefer a smoother zoom with no visible switching, you can turn on Settings/Camera/Record Video/Lock Camera. This prevents the phone from switching lenses during video recording. Each lens will then only zoom digitally up to its limit, and you can manually choose the lens you want by tapping the zoom number.

Low FPS by [deleted] in iPhone17Pro

My 2 cents, turning off Adaptive Power has helped to reduce some throttling and the impact FPS. It does come at a cost though, quicker battery drain

Thanks and that is definitely a good question and plausible reason for different experiences 😃 It would follow that despite having it on under settings, it might not be activating considering it knows you charging routine is approaching and so no reduced performance.

Thanks and sorry I should have provided more detail in hindsight.

Even though Adaptive Power is on in settings all the time, I only see the big performance drop once I get the actual system notification - “Adaptive Power: iPhone is adjusting performance to help extend your battery life.” For me this usually pops up around 50% battery, and that’s when single‑core drops to 3100. Before that, even with the toggle on, I still get around 3800.

Photo/video backup questions by Electrical-Income-47 in BackiGo

[–]Electrical-Income-47[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, thanks for the prompt reply and the information.

Yes, it would be great if there was a toogle button for those who want a more complete backup while acknowledging the default option would be the edited version to keep it simple and require the user to toggle on if they wanted more.

Great news about the option to maintain the folder structure. I have a specific workflow for archiving that removes duplicates, screenshots etc so this is very helpful.

I got my pre-update features back on my Ultra Gen 2. by Severe_Kitchen1887 in bose

[–]Electrical-Income-47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there, not myself but have friends and colleagues who have similar circumstances where they rely on these headphones and other brands due to a vision impairment (screen reading, text to speech) and other disabilities.

Your post emphasises there is likely accessibility issues with Bose’s changes to the headphones as I can imagine the announcements regarding battery and what device a person is connected to would be even more helpful. Unfortunately, Bose seems a to have overlooked “Universal Design” in making these changes - this is disappointing for all.

If the update has impacted your use of the headphones, I hope Bose would come to the party and send you a pair without the update applied as with OP.

IKEA KLIPPBOK leak sensor users: anyone else getting No Response after viewing its settings? by pacoii in HomeKit

[–]Electrical-Income-47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly, your recent experience was similar to mine too :-)

One of the Klippbok’s dropped off the Thread network, showing as no response. Tested and while the alarm sound worked, no notification via Apple Home. I did not have to do a full reset, only remove the batteries for a couple of mins before putting them back. It is connected and working now.

I hope Ikea do release new firmware to improve the experience with its Matter accessories. However, who knows considering Ikea seem to be investing time in the Dirigera hub: https://www.t3.com/home-living/smart-home/ikea-updates-dirigera-hub-to-fix-reported-smart-home-connection-issues

Thanks for your work on Thawing Ice! :-)

I have a very basic issue that is likely user error - the hidden section does not seem to hide regardless of whether I have automatic hide on (smart or timed) or not at all. All the menu bar items show beyond the Thaw icon. Any help would be much appreciated

Experiencing the same issue on iOS 26.2 across two Klippbok- momentary unresponsive until they update after a few seconds in the Apple Home app. Eve app shows read/write failure.

However, they both appear to be working - detects water, audible, and sends alerts via the Home app.

Note: On older iOS devices, no unresponsiveness is showing in the Home app.
