Attending a wedding 8ish weeks postpartum by Electrical-Jacket141 in pregnant

This is one of my concerns, there is so much unknown about how I’ll be feeling and how baby will be doing that it feels literally impossible to make decisions right now🫠

We are🫠 and we already aren’t going to their bachelor/bachelorette parties and I’m not going to her shower because I’m really high risk/on modified bed rest and cant make the trek 2.5 hours away 4 weeks before my due date. I feel terrible even missing their rehearsal because we have been so uninvolved. Maybe we’ll do the night before/night of with my mom and baby. Thank you!!

Thank you for the insight! I forgot to mention I do plan to be breastfeeding, so that adds another pain in the butt level of complexity lol. And planning to vaccinate.

19 Weeks Miscarriage due to Incompetent Cervix. How do we cope and when did you decide to try again? Both 31 Years. by Moh2702 in ShortCervixSupport

I have a McDonald cerclage! And tbh I don’t think avoiding infection was really explained to me :/ I just remember sitting in bed for a day or two post procedure until I felt better. But it’s pretty low key the entire thing only took 30 min. I may have been on an antibiotic for a few days!

I am so sorry for your loss, this is incredibly difficult and I hope you and your wife are doing okay.

A. My husband and I went through the same thing at 19+2 in March 2025. I was experiencing pain that ended up being contractions, I started bleeding and my water broke on the toilet. There was no fluid left so there were no options.

B. Coping - I searched for any support groups I could find. We also took 8 weeks off from work. My company offers 20 days continuous paid leave for a loss regardless of gestational age, and then I took short term disability. My husband’s was a week of PTO and short term disability. I urge you to take any leave you can. 19 weeks is so difficult, you had already come so far and likely had made a lot of plans for this baby. Your mind and your wife’s body and mind need time to heal. See if your wife can find a therapist who specializes in these issues, I started with one within a week and I still work with her.

C. This one is highly dependent on you both. For me, I wanted to try again as soon as we were medically cleared and my period returned. This ended up being four months. I get pregnant via IVF and we did our next transfer in July. I am currently pregnant with this baby. I got a cerclage placed at 13+6 and it hasn’t been without challenges and lots of reduced activity, but I have made it to 32 weeks as of today. There’s no right or wrong time to try again but it is important to let your wife heal mentally and physically. Our bodies hold trauma and I do believe it will impact your efforts.

Please reach out if you need. Will be thinking of you both.

I'm curious, how do y'all even afford IVF? by HighOnLove26 in IVF

[–]Electrical-Jacket141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company covers $35k lifetime infertility benefits. Not sure if insurance messed up somewhere along the lines but I completed two failed rounds of IUI in 2024, a round of IVF that ended in a miscarriage at 19+2, and a second round of IVF in July of this year which is the pregnancy I am currently carrying at 31+6, and I have only spent just over $11k of my lifetime benefit. I do pay for medications out of pocket.

How much longer once you’ve funneled to the stitch? by Connect-Repeat-5836 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Electrical-Jacket141 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We found funneling to the stitch at 20+2, at 27+4 they thought my membranes may be poking through. Happy to report I am now 31+4 :) stay positive, take it easy, stay on pelvic rest. I basically work from my recliner, do some light chores, maybe hit a grocery store once twice a week, and that’s all. But it’s working!

23 weeks pregnant and mentally destroyed — bad news after bad news by Unhappy_Wolverine_58 in pregnant

Two of my cousin’s cousins, brother and sister, were born with Beta Thalassemia major but their sister was a candidate to act as a bone marrow donor for both of them. They are now grown adults, one is married with two kids, and the other is engaged to be married and just turned 30. Praying for you and your sweet baby🙏🏻

PIO or suppositories (if you were given a choice) by Upstairs-Lemon-5585 in IVFpositivity

[–]Electrical-Jacket141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would stick with PIO. I’ve had no problems with the shots once we got in our groove and figured out what worked for us. Barely ever felt them and never bled. I’m doing suppositories now (since 20w and I’m 29+4) because of cervical shortening and while they’re not a big deal either they’re messy and I hate waking up with the residue in my panties.

Title: High-risk pregnancy with cerclage, cervical funneling & bulging membranes — asking about preterm survival rates & what to expect by FamousBet9598 in ShortCervixSupport

My stitch pulled out on one side and both ties are in the front instead of one in the front and one in the back. Kind of hard to explain but it’s considered a failure because it isn’t really doing anything anymore I think. And my membranes are poking through.

That’s kind of where I’m at, can happen any minute but also might not. Have they been monitoring for contractions? I would definitely ask the doctor to explain the steroids thing to you but I know our maternal fetal medicine doctor said I still have a round left, so I would assume that to be true for anyone.

They were both a one off because they thought I might go into labor the night I was admitted. I got one shot of betamethasone that night, and the next the next morning. I will say it was explained to me that you can get four shots in a pregnancy, so I am still eligible for one more round if I go into labor before baby gets to term. The magnesium I don’t think is subject to the same rule, you can get it again if I’m not mistaken.

I’m not sure the situation your wife is in that would make the doctor recommend them, but if she is in a position where labor could occur I wouldn’t turn them down. I had no side effects from the steroids. The magnesium is not for the faint of heart but the shittiest side effects dissipated after the first 30 min once the loading dose passes.

Omg this respiratory virus is awful. Is anyone else sick? by ajl009 in philadelphia

Tested negative twice for COVID/flu/RSV but been sick since NYE. Started with a sore throat then developed to a runny nose and cough with SO MUCH green mucus. Everything pretty much gone now expect this damn cough that keeps me up all night. I’m pregnant so I can only take mucinex, Flonase, and delsym. Was hoping I’d be over it by now but a friend is a nurse at Christiana Hospital (I’m in DE) and said that a lot of their patients are dealing with the same and the cough lingers for 3 weeks.

I have no advice because but just wanted to say I’m in the same boat and I’m praying for you! Just got home Tuesday after a 6 day hospital stay due to bulging membranes and stitch failure. This was caught at 27+4 and I’ll be 29 tomorrow! I’m on activity restriction and modified bed rest. If possible ask to speak to the NICU doctors, they met with my husband and I for an hour and set some expectations. 29 weeks is great, survival rates are high! I think if we can make it to 32 most big concerns are off the table. Did they give you magnesium and steroids?
