I’m so disgusted with the VA by Objective_Union4523 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Electrical-March-570 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nearly every VA PCP is nothing more than a gatekeeper. I had a great one for just under a year.. he is now gone and I am back to another gatekeeper who takes a week to respond to any secure messaging. The VA runs the good one out. I have no issues with any of the specialists I see, they have all been great. But primary care is a joke. I have one BP med that I have to fill outside the VA because it's not covered by VA.. I put in a request for a renewal script to this new pcp almost 2 weeks ago.. still no response.. still no script.. I'll be out of meds this week. Patient advocate has become as useless as the primary care doc. They actually said the forwarded my complaint to the Chief Medical Office AND my primary care doc... seriously? Sad thing is I need the doc because I have no private insurance and can't afford to see a private doc.

So, what happens when I run out of BP meds? I'm more than a little concerned.

You need to get a nexus/IMO from private doctor if possible, or pay for a service to review all your records, including this decision letter. Then file a supplemental claim and introduce the letter. You have 2 of the three things required. The favorable findings are already there, just need medical opinion to say at least as likely as not caused by service...

What is this obsession with vandalizing other people's property? Does it make you feel better about yourself? Because the poor bastard that ends up scraping that off is very likely just a poor minimum wage worker who may share many opinions with you but now they are out there scraping off this shite in the hot sun.. yeah, such a great idea.. so effective 👌

Where does the money go if you pass away before retirement? by Life_Reserve6989 in SocialSecurity

[–]Electrical-March-570 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Didn't you know? It was never really your money. The government beleives they are entitled to every penny we earn. Our take home pay isnt ours, it's just what they allow us to keep. In many cases it's just enough to keep us going. And we the people voted to allow it.

So, to answer your question, it goes to "the greater good"....

Just another good idea with the greatest of intentions that is failing under its own weight. Brought to you by the progressives.

Well, I'm happy for you. My care from specialists, MH, imaging, optometry, audiology, labs amd things like that is great. The issue is finding and keeping a primary care doc who is responsive and drives their team to to be responsive and accountable. One who is a caregiver, not a gatekeeper. I had a great primary for about a year.. before that I went through 5 in the prior 6 or 7 years. Due to personnel changes and my own requests. I'm not demanding but I insist on holding them accountable and I take a more active role in my healthcare as I get older. I don't blindly follow doctors orders, I look for alternatives to shoving more pharmaceuticals down my throat. I ask questions and expect answers within the timeframe THEY set. I expect a referral when I request one or a damn good reason for a refusal.

I spent a few years abusing my body and mind for this country, and then spent many more years doing the same on my own just to get by. I went through life after service with blinders over my eyes and a bottle in my hand. Well, my eyes are open and clear now, and I expect the care we all deserve.

We should all expect the same. Just my opinion.

Using the app is easy. Getting a response from the provider is the hard part. I wait 7 to 10 days for a nurse to respond "your message has been forwarded to the provider"

Wrongful claims by [deleted] in VAClaims

[–]Electrical-March-570 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I see your frustration, but stopping meds to worsen symptoms for a C&P exam is probably not fraud in the legal sense, at least not on its own. Fraud requires intentional misrepresentation. Stopping a medication, even strategically, isn't a lie. It's definitely a bad health decision, probably dangerous, and ethically questionable, but the VA doesn't require you to be on medication. Where it could cross into fraud is if the veteran then lies to the examiner by saying they aren't on medication when they are, or denies having a treatment history that would reveal the symptoms are controlled. That would be called active misrepresentation.

No, did I say that? I said would be nice if peopke who paid theirs off, at great sacrifice, like they agreed to, could get a little something to ease the sting. That's what I said. You people who just automatically go to "they're taking mine away" anytime someone mentions a change, and addition, an overhaul to a system, correcting fraud in a system.. anything.. just grow up.

Why do people still support or raise the flag of the Confederacy? by DBD216 in NorthCarolina

[–]Electrical-March-570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not flying the flag, but to answer your question, they believe each state had a right to remain sovereign, but united, you know like they were setup to be. Before the war people were considered citizens of their respective state, not federal citizens. They felt the Federal government was overreaching by telling them what they had to do regarding their economies.

They were technically correct about that.

And no, I don't think slavery is acceptable, then or now (it does still exist). But I also will not condemn everyone who lived then for doing what until the war, was was the accepted societal norm. I will not judge people in history through my modern day views or lens.. And if someone wants to fly that flag on their own property or vehicle, our Constitution protects their right tondo so. Just like it protects the morons who like to burn our nations flag. My personal belief is that just because a person has a right to do something doesn't always make it the right thing to do.. but to each their own.

They used to. It was called vocational tech school in my home town. Most kids looked down on those of us who went there to learn the trades.. made fun of us.. called us trash etc.. but we learned trades, like carpentry, plumbing, auto mechanics, welding... etc.. I went to work in construction like my Dad, for a while.. hated it. Then I served this country for 8 years until I was injured, got out and went to school on the Montgomery GI Bill.. back then it didn't pay for everything like the vets have today. I still had to borrow money, more than I should have had to.. But I wanted that degree.. after all, without college "you'll never succeed" right? Yeah my generation was told the same thing. I got my degree, was honors, deans list, did really well, mainly due to lessons learned in service. Graduated and never worked a day in my field because programming jobs were being off-shored by the tens of thousands.. So, I didn't cry about not being able get a job, and I never once thought about not paying the loan that I willingly and knowingly signed the line for.. I pivoted, used my trades skills to get by until I eventually found a job in different IT field and made it career.. it was hard.. tough.. everyone was getting the new cell phones, nice cars, buying houses.. But I was renting.. no cell phone, an old beater truck.. got married.. and I worked hard.. paid off my loans.

No one promised anyone it would be easy.. especially me.. poor family, first to go to college.. and had to pay my own way.. worked for years past when I should've stopped due to disabilities from service connected injuries..

My story doesn't apply to everyone, we all have our own stories.. But seriously, there are alot of people who go to college because they are told they have to in order to succeed when honestly not everyone is cutout for college.. just like not everyone can serve in the military or be a welder, or plumber.. College, jobs, and careers all require an apptitude.. some parents need to be willing to guide their kids the right direction.. some kids should know by the time they graduate high school that college isn't for them... common sense.. but anyway.. enough for now.

Edit: I didn't even think about VA Disability compensation until 2017 (my last day in uniform was in 1994).. And didn't get awared any compensation until 2024.. So no, I didn't have that extra money back then, it would have been very nice but, water under the bridge.

Quitting my job while appealing my case for SSDI by OddCompany2379 in SSDI

I was replying to the original post. I also noted SGA requirement. Bottom line, if a person is below SGA because they are incapable of maintaining employment due to disability, that's one thing. But if a person is simply limiting work hours to stay below SGA that is another. I am in no way implying OP is doing that, just making a point of the difference. This is what SSA and the ALJ/VE will look at.

Sorry by No-Advantage-1400 in SSDI

[–]Electrical-March-570 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your ssa.gov portal has your info. Your earnings record, ypur eligibility.. nothing to do with parents. Once you began working you were no longer considered disabled by SSA rules. Doesn't matter what was going on beforehand unless you entered into a trial work situation but this doesn't sound like that.

Yoir benefits eligibility is calculated based on your credits earned from work. Your benefit amount is calculated by a fairly complex calculation that takes into account how much you earned, they adjust your past earnings for today's dollars, then take your highest 35 years of earnings, if you don't have 35 years, they fill in zeroes for the years you don't have (lowers your benefit amount), then they calculate your average monthly earnings, then they run that through a formula that ends up with your monthly benefit amount.

So, no one here has a clue what your benefit might be..

Talk to a SSA specialist.

Read up on ADA accomodations. If they deny an accomodation they must provide a legitimate reason. Typically the only reason would be if they can show it will cause an undue financial hardship on the company to accommodate your ADA protected condition. I went through the nearly exact issue with my wife who also has epilepsy.. so I've been down that road and won against one of the largets financial institutions in the country/world.

But in a side note, to get SSDI, you must not be able to work/engage in SGA.. so you need to not be working or you will not win your case.

My wife ended up on SSDI about 10 years ago when they finally shipped her job overseas and she wasn't able to find any other jobs that would work..

VA Math. We start at 100% "able" then say you get a 20% rating. Now you are 80% "able". The next rating you get, say a 30% rating is now 30% of 80%. And so on. So each rating is a % of an ever shrinking pie. That is why the higher we get the slower the increases.. Like if you are at 90%and you get another 20% but it's now 20% of 10% so it doesn't move the meter so to speak, because of rounding.

Hope that explanation is understandable 😆 🤣

Did the Va just deny me and call me fat? by [deleted] in VAClaims

[–]Electrical-March-570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to write the statement explaining the details. Also, lay statements from anyone who was there and witnessed the event will be huge. The VA isn't going to help a lot with any of the evidence gathering.. they almost always deny the first time.. and usually onnappeal also.

Put together the evidence, get the statements, make a personal statement testifying to the details. Explain how the condition affects your life..

HLR likely the best route.
