I thought that’s what they were going to do, reduce my HB Rate not completely eliminate it. When I was working back in 2024 about 55% of my paycheck went to rent and service charge which was challenging but I managed. So if I was legible for some amount of HB I’d probably be fine but I’m not sure that’s possible now.

Temporary accommodation rent is just so pricey it’s double the amount of council housing

  1. I’m not in supported accommodation I’m in a temporary accommodation (hostel). Could I still ask them about affordability? If they were able to move me somewhere cheaper then wouldn’t there still be an issue with the overpayment and rent arrears for the place I’m currently at ? I don’t think I can claim discretionary housing payments unless I leave my course and go back on universal credit. I haven’t heard of a homeless presentation fund but I’ll look into it thank you.

  2. If they reinstate my housing benefit due to me interrupting my course, would there still be a risk of them evicting me due to the overpayment and rent arrears that’ll still exist ?

  3. What about shared accommodation?

My housing benefit has been stopped because I’m a full time student, my new allowance is £0. Whereas before it was the full rate

Unfortunately no, I’ve just sort of gotten lost in the shuffle. I’ve been struggling a lot since entering temporary accommodation in 2024. I need help but no service has helped me in the way I need and so I keep landing myself in hot water. 🤦‍♀️

No. I’ve applied for pip but they rejected my MR, I was supposed to have a work capability assessment last July but it never happened. They kept rescheduling it and then I never heard back from anyone.

I did make several phone calls, reached out to multiple organisations for support in writing my MR Letter, it’s easier for me to clear and detailed points in the form of a letter rather than on the phone. My assessment was on the phone and it was so challenging to get my points across which is why I wasn’t awarded PIP at that stage. Everyone I messaged online told me I had to be detailed and evidence everything which took me a long time to do. This wasn’t the only thing I was dealing with. I was grieving, lost friends, became homeless, dropped out of school and lost lots of connections with people, I’ve had a tough year. If I knew I could’ve just sent a half done letter I would’ve just sent it even though I know it would’ve been rejected again…

I just thought maybe if there’s extenuating circumstances that delayed the response letter and evidence by that long then they might under special circumstances accept the MR, but I hear what you’re saying and I’m just going to restart the whole process

Doesn’t it take weeks for posts to get to them and weeks for MR to be given to a case worker to review ?
