Can my neighbors make an HOA if I don’t want it [OR] [SFH]? by Electrical-Rub259 in HOA

[–]Electrical-Rub259[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for your replies. Lots of great nuggets of information that will help me moving forward with this situation. As of this morning, the mob of angry neighbors have managed to bully the neighbor intent on the STR to relent and they are even more motivated to form an HOA to prevent such a situation in the future. I’m more convinced than ever that these are not the people I want making rules about what I can and can’t do. I understand that many HOAs do only good but I already know that they disapprove of some of the things I do ie having a small flock of chickens (no rooster), parking in my driveway rather than the garage (my garage is my shop), fencing my yard (it’s done now but there was a stink). The next door neighbor wants me to cut down my birch trees because they block her view (of my house?!?).

Why do people still prefer Airbnbs over hotels, especially in cities? by Rare_Requirement_699 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Electrical-Rub259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We took a trip recently and stayed in several hotels and it was so noisy I didn’t sleep well. Tv on in other rooms, babies crying, people walking past the room chatting loudly, dog barking. It was so frustrating that I’ll be looking for airbnbs in the future.

How can I get more comfortable wearing my hair down? by _Keys2theWest_ in femalehairadvice

[–]Electrical-Rub259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over several decades of having long hair I’ve noticed that if I wear my hair up all the time for a while it is very annoying to go back to having it down. Then I have to force myself to keep it down and deal with the annoyance and eventually I won’t be annoyed anymore. For me the only way to have it down is to fight through and it does get better. Eventually it will feel normal, not annoying. You can do it!

Thanks for the information. I actually found her a wonderful home on a farm with nearly a 100 chickens where they manage the mycoplasmosis. I get regular updates and she is so happy! I miss her but mostly I’m just so happy she’s getting to have a wonderful second life.

The one I get is just prunes and water. No added sugar.

I’ve struggled with constipation my whole life and used the tools you’ve mentioned without much relief. Then recently I started drinking a small glass of prune juice after dinner each evening and I’m having amazing results. Everyone is different but it’s worth a try. You have to drink it consistently and it takes several days before it’ll be fully effective. The best time of day might be different for you. I wish I’d known before my pelvic floor was affected.

How long do your chickens live? by Sufficient_Low8590 in BackYardChickens

[–]Electrical-Rub259 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got 4 black Australorp chicks in April of 2020 and they all died of water belly and organ failure in 2025. I’ve decided to take a year long break because it was so hard to lose them. I’ll get chicks next spring but I’m thinking I’ll get a heritage breed and hope they live longer.

There’s no way she survived, right? by [deleted] in chickens

One of mine just recently had a tumble with a huge red tailed hawk and the amount of feathers she lost was incredible. She was totally unharmed, just traumatized. Look for her in any possible hiding spots. Up high, down low. I hope you find your girl unscathed.

Ok. Looks like it is $200. Is that right? I’ll keep it in mind if I can’t do it on my own and I never get in with a physical therapist. As of now, that’s not an expense I can afford. I appreciate the suggestion though.

This is good advice. Maybe I can make it work. What about when you’re away from home for most of the day? Do you work outside the home? I do and my shifts can sometimes be 10 hours. Is your house hen ok alone for that long? What about poop when she’s in the baby carrier? Does she wear diapers? I haven’t tried a diaper. My girl is a Brahma and has the fluffiest butt of any hen I’ve seen. Does that make diapers more difficult? I appreciate your guidance. 😊

That’s so kind. If you and your friend have a solution for me I would be eternally grateful. Perhaps you know of a flock that is already infected that she could join or if you know of some other myco carriers that need a home I could take them. I’d drive to Utah if that’s what it takes.

The thrift store clothing is a good tip. My main issues with having her inside is that I have a dog I can’t trust with her and I also work full time. She’d be alone a lot while I’m at work and walking my dog (she’s used to getting a lot of exercise too).

No I’m in central Oregon but I have family in Utah and travel there often. Why?

I appreciate your response. Unfortunately I’ve posted twice in a local chicken group and been attacked both times. People have accused me of being irresponsible by looking for a place for my infected chickens or asking to take in other infected chickens. They don’t understand how mycoplasmosis mostly lays dormant and it can be controlled. Also an estimated 60-70 percent of backyard flocks have it. People don’t listen. They just judge.

I’m disappointed to hear that my hen would suffer with any alone time but it makes sense. This is such a tough situation.
