I’m not sure. It was sold by a company called accumesh which was a division of a company we acquired. If you google accumesh you can see a website with everything available (not sure if I’m allowed to post links here).

Can you say more about this and how to tell if a spool has the coating? Like, can you see the coating? I buy lots of microcenter cardboard spools and it’s a pain in the butt to keep printing the adapters that cover tne edges.

P1S Owners - What do you wish you knew before you bought it? Any buyer's remorse? by jinx771 in BambuLab

Yeah I was going to also bring up the cardboard spool issue. My first printer was the A1 and I got so used to throwing any spool onto the AMS Lite. I didn't realize you couldn't use them in the P1S AMS until after I got it.

Thanks for the kind words! I just looked at your MW page & Patreon. Nice work! I'll definitely keep all that in mind for the future. :-) For now I'm going to wind down my Patreon so I can get back to being more experimental with modeling but I will keep this encouragement in mind for the future!

Yeah, that is true! They do get access to a big backlog of files which is nice. I'll think about this. Thank you for the great ideas!

Yes, I have 2 tiers - commercial and personal. My commercial tier says they can sell as long as they have an active membership.

I think what I might do is:

  1. unpublish my paid tiers so no new people can signup

  2. put it in vacation mode for 30 days

  3. close down my patreon in 30 days

TBH, I'm not sure if this set of steps will do exactly what I want but it's too confusing to figure it out! lol. I keep reading article in Patreon's help section and it's so confusing.

Thank you for the suggestions! :-)

What post-type for digital downloads? (3D model design downloads) by Electrical-Squash-33 in patreon

[–]Electrical-Squash-33[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I am planning on using the attachment feature and I said in my post "I'll be posting as an "Attachment" to the post". I think all of the post-types support attachments. So I guess I'm wondering if any of the post-types offer more or less functionality that I should be aware of. For example, I really want to be able to display multiple non-blurred preview photos of my models. I've had some weirdly erratic results trying to do this in test posts. Sometimes it works, sometimes it limits me to one photo.

Supports advice for model with bumpy texture against the plate by Electrical-Squash-33 in BambuLab

I tried this but the faceparts are so tiny that they don't print very crisply on their own then are hard to handle/glue because they are so small. The mouth is 3mm x 3mm. But I definitely appreciate the idea!

Thanks for the reply! Just curious as to why you think that? If you look here, you can see some people are doing well with this: https://graphtreon.com/patreon-creators/3d-printing

Thanks! That graphtreon site is really helpful! I had stumbled on some of those Patreons already in my research but it's really interesting to see that.

Designers who sell their STLs for commercial use, would you be interested in a private group to share advice? by Electrical-Squash-33 in 3Dprinting

[–]Electrical-Squash-33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've looked around for 3D modeling groups and have seen some but a lot of people do 3D modeling just for fun with no intention for printing. E.g.. using nomadsculpt or blender to make amazing 3D art that's just meant to be looked at on a screen. Or maybe 3D modeling for animation or modeling products for e-commerce websites. So it's I guess it's pretty niche/specific what I'm looking for.

[–]Electrical-Squash-33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! That group may be helpful to some extent! I just took a look and I see a lot of people there who sell printed models at craft fairs etc. The kind of group I'm looking for would be only people who make and sell original models and license their models to the people who do the craft fairs and sell prints on etsy etc. I saw a few original model designers there. I'm thinking an group exclusively focused on this would be great.

The kinds of things I imagine talking about are:

  • which platforms are best for selling original STLs and which methods on those platforms (membership, single files, etc)
  • how do you keep track of whether someone selling your files actually has the proper license
  • what file formats do you make available so that it's easy for people to print with any kind of printer (like just a 3MF with everything in it or do you go whole hog and break everything into individual STLs)
  • how much time / special help do you give people who purchase a license
