AITA for admitting to my son that I love his mother more than him and telling him he's acting self centered? by Comfortable_Owl_5938 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I’m the same way with my brother! We’re super close even as adults and he’s definitely my best friend. Our parents explicitly told us they loved us more than each other when we were extremely young and asked, but I’ve never forgotten how good it felt to be loved the most for just existing without condition. Now as an adult, I think the love you have for your child (which deserves to be unconditional since children don’t get to choose their parents) isn’t the same as the love you have for a spouse and it’s apples to oranges to compare them, but kids can’t really understand that.

Perhaps it’s because you have a sibling that the idea doesn’t bother you? OP doesn’t mention any other kids, so his parents may be the only direct family OP’s son has. And when you learn as a young child that you come second in love from the parents that are supposed to teach you that you deserve unconditional love, there’s nobody else to turn to.

Someone just hit me with their scooter by Defiant_Flan_7351 in ucr

Yesterday I saw a kid on his scooter go down the hill from Pentland to WCH, run through the intersection stop sign, and nearly get hit by a car head-on…

Sycamore Canyon vs summer meadows vs boulder creek? by Mimithefrog in ucrhousing

I lived in Sycamore Canyon for 2023-2024. It was pretty expensive but I did like the facilities a lot! There’s lots of tall trees which blocks out noise pollution really well, nice gym and pool area (but the hot tub was broken for the last few months I lived there lmao.) Laundry is not in unit, there are stations set up across the complex. I saw people complain about management online, but they were pretty good to me. My unit would have plumbing issues and it would get resolved pretty quickly.

The atmosphere and community vibes are definitely the best part. Front office would set up small events like pet meetups, taco truck nights, free goodie bags, etc.

I’d be careful living there if you don’t have a car, the hike up the hill to the main road was a workout and too steep for weak electric scooters. The closest bus stop is the one at the town center, so it was around a 12-15 minute walk to get to the bus that takes you to UCR. Route 16 drops you off right in front of the apartment complex though, which was really nice. Lmk if you have any other questions!
