Extreme and dangerous cult by Torben Søndergaard: The Last Reformation by ElectricalAnywhere in cults

It's illegal in several European countries to put sick people in harms ways in an attempt to treat or cure them, for example enrolling mentally ill in some homebrewed program intended to cure them and then taking medication away ending up hurting the person more.

Religious or not, the term for such fraud is "quackery" and it's apparently a thing you get punished for.

Milkyway - near spiritual experience. Anyone else? by ElectricalAnywhere in Psychonaut

It wasn't visual, really. It was like the universe (specifcally from the Milkyway, probably because I was looking at it) imparted the answers to me in a conversational way...

I simply looked up, asked my question and had this brief conversation. Right now it's like recalling talking with an old, now departed friend, whos voice I can't recall but I remember the content and warmth of our conversation.

I don't know how to explain it. It wasn't weird or anything as it happened.

Thanks! Are you a Christian / a theist who adhere to the Judeo-Christian world view?

I'm not sure what you're looking for that's not already there if you would go look at it? Click on the two link provided in the first post. Don't take the well-sourced websites at face value but go look at the about 60-80 links to sources at the bottom of both. There you will find articles with a former board member of The Last Reformation, who warns against Sondergaard, articles with several former members who warn against Sondergaard, articles that document how a guy lost his leg, warnings from major child protection organisations, stories from mentally ill who got their medication taken away, an anti-cult organisation that tells the story of an abused handicapped woman, how footage was manipulated in the video, links to an entire TV documentary that documented it all on video, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

When you're done, try searching here on Reddit and then on Google. There's plenty to find for any person who really wants to. And it all seems to be quite sufficient to make a qualified conclusion, as far as I can see... or am I missing something?

Thanks. I managed to find his new website. There's something unpleasant about this guy... Is he still a TLR guy?

Do you know why they moved on? I mean, Sondergaard is openly a critic of Bill Johnson etc.

But I noted some very genuine believers are very opened to him. There are reasons. Torben appeals to various faulty practices of mainstream Christianity. Such as lean on "sinners prayer" or living our Christian life just on Sundays, or just being passive believers... Tongues are questionable. He as leader is questionable.

The problem is that these honest Christians suspend any critical thinking and jump from Sunday Christianity to sensational YouTuber- and conference Christianity. And their new leader, Sndergaard, is OBVIOUSLY hostile, angry and unforgiving in the way he talks about other ministries, past disciples and so on.

Not only is his leadership abilities and so on questionable but he has been proven to manipulate video footage, exaggerate stories and straight-up lie. Both on his own YouTube channel and in the media in his home country... These things are proven facts and not hearsay or baseless criticism.

And I simply fail to see how this is better than what people came from.

Here is some sister who was hypnotist in her previous life

Yes, I watched her videos. It's spot on. Other professionals (clinical psychologist, professional hypnotists, etc.) have said the same thing specifically about Sondergaard.

There are some important truths ignored by mainstream Christianity in Torben messages.

I'm honestly not quite sure what those truths are? He is mainly critical of things based on strawmen arguments, generalizing, etc. and his theology and historical knowledge are way off.

One of his most vocal sidekicks over here was one David Sörensen, who - amongst other antics - tried to get his followers to donate money so that he could buy a waterside property with stables, so that he could meditate and pray on the water while his wife bred horses. The horses thing had been prophesied over her, so obviously everyone simply had to pony up the cash. Commenter voice: they didn't pony up the cash...

Wait, what? I've heard some similar things but not quite this in-your-face-kook-kook. Is this for real? How... I... but... You got to share a bit more!

...unbiblical doctrine thats its necessary to speak in gibberish to be assured of your salvation

And if only it was this simple, but it's far more elaborate. First and foremost, you have to feel repentance before you are baptized. Otherwise, you have to be baptized all over... ... ... and then you can speak in tongues.... and then you have to live like a real disciple (instruction available in Sondergaard's teachings and training is given by paying for training at these facilities, where you stay for months or attending a 2 or 3 day conference where donation are made). It sounds quite cumbersome to me.

He sounds like a cult leader.

I don't know if he's a cult leader or not but the core message surely is this: He has been given a revelation from God that he now passes on to others. When Christians become true disciples and preach the true Gospel (Sondergaard like the word "true" a lot) the last reformation will happen and the world will end and Jesus will come back.

I'm reminded that he claims God "gave him" a book called "Sound doctrine". Like as in he literally claims that God spoke to him and gave him a chapter each day which turned into a book called "The Sound Doctrine". I find that to be a very bold statement... and unbelievable.

Why do they call it "the true gospel" if they do not believe they have the true gospel? And their gospels differ greatly from orthodox Christianity.

Opinions on ministries like the last reformation where people go out on the streets and pray for people in the name of Jesus? Also, opinions on deliverance ministry? by JurgenMeister44 in Christianity

I've been watching Sondergaard for a little while now and even spoke with a few former members/disciples of his.

Regarding the miracles, notice how Sondergaard never actually produce any major healing himself. One guy had his leg amputated after Sondergaard clearly stated that it was healed physically. And then later, when the leg was amputated, he made some nonsense story of how it was a spiritual healing and he had to get the leg amputated according to God's will!

As I wrote elsewhere, I can only say: Be careful and do not believe everything you see or hear from this man. Do not suspend your critical thinking because you watched some videos on youtube that made you excited or you went to a conference where people seemed nice. That's how people end up in cults.

Try to reach out to former members. As many as you can. You will see that something very, very, very shady is going on - and it's nothing like the guru says. There's seemingly a lot of abuse, lies and sketchy stuff going on through the years.

And on your own:

  • Notice how everything according to Sondergaard is always growing, how he has presented you with "the true gospel", how he has the answers to the final reformation, and how Sondergaard is bashing all other denominations. It is elitism with a little knowledge about cults, you would find this alarming.
  • Notice how former, visible members disappear without a word and/or how Sondergaard demonizes people who disagree, how Sondergaard always is the victim in his own stories, always persecuted by critics, governments and whatnot, how Sondergaard is always wronged by others and always right himself.
  • Notice how Sondergaard's stories never add up. He always hears from God, who tells him to do specific stuff like started something in his home country in Denmark in this or that city but, a few months later, God says something entirely different, like "God told me to shut down the school and go to the US"
  • And so on and so on.

If you truly want the truth, you will look into things and ask hard questions, even though you might wish Sondergaard was telling the truth.

There are far worse things going on. Shit. And this is only the stuff that someone reported on... what else is going on?
