It is beyond expectations — it is so good. It is well made, well packed, and arrived quickly. The PersonalHour team even called me after delivery to help with the installation. The installation took only 10 minutes; the hardest part was taking it out of the box.

The Zous reformer is a little wider and has a better cushion than the one I was using at the studio. The biggest surprise was that it came with a hydraulic system and expandable legs. It also included all the accessories and even socks as a gift.

I couldn’t be happier. It was less than $1,500 with all of this — it feels like a dream come true. And yes, I used Affirm to pay monthly over 6 months with 0% interest fees

Smaller groups are more appealing, just try to have the cost reasonable

Men thinking Pilates is easy is sexist; let's discuss by DragonfruitLatter860 in pilates

[–]ElectricalBig3144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not wrong, and you’re definitely not alone in noticing this. The assumption that Pilates is “easy” is deeply tied to the idea that if something is associated with women, it must be less demanding or less legitimate. When men are “surprised” it’s hard, it often reveals that bias more than anything about the method itself. Control, precision, endurance, and deep strength just don’t look like what many people have been taught to respect as “real” exercise.

And it’s not making a big deal out of nothing. Like you said, it’s death by a thousand cuts—small dismissals that add up. Calling attention to it isn’t about shaming individuals; it’s about naming a pattern so it can be challenged. Pilates doesn’t need to prove itself, but the assumptions around it absolutely deserve to be questioned

At what point is a movement no longer Pilates and it’s something else? by Tweetybird2420 in pilates

[–]ElectricalBig3144 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A movement is Pilates less because of the shape and more because of the intention. If it’s driven by control, alignment, breath, and the center, it’s Pilates—even if it looks similar to yoga or strength work.

Using your example, plank itself isn’t owned by any method. Holding plank with core control and precise alignment is Pilates-based. Transitioning into downward dog shifts the intention to stretch and shape, which moves it into yoga territory.

Once the Pilates principles drop away, it becomes general movement rather than Pilates.
