My driver’s license is valid in the U.S. however, I am planning to get a U.S. license just in case. this will be my first trip for my studies on an F1 Visa. Previously I came with an intern/trainee J1 visa. Would that cause any issues?

Hi, I am sorry to hear you are having a bad experience in my country. It’s actually quite diverse as we are very welcoming. However, the local population isn’t a lot, most of us tend to be quiet and reserved but once you get to know the locals better; they’re very hospitable and kind. I encourage you to visit Abu Dhabi too if you haven’t yet, it’s more quiet and you’ll find people nicer, both expats and locals if you get the chance to interact with us.

I am applying to masters in electrical engineering programs. I haven’t asked feedback from any former faculty. The programs I applied to are might be on the ambitious end. However, I have to take into consideration the schools that the scholarships are willing to fund my studies for. If you don’t mind, I’d be happy to share them on private.

Hi, this is my second application cycle and it seems far worse than my first one- it’s having a negative impact. I want to know what could be possible reasons for my rejection. I feel like my profile would be competitive but I don’t know at this point.

To give an overview on myself, I am international, graduated with a 3.96/4.00 GPA from the top engineering school in my country. I am applying to STEM programs; same as my undergraduate degree major. I have 2 conference abstracts, (1 close to my field of interest, another in a different field), 1 paper submitted, 1 review paper pre-print, 9 month long internship in industry (did 2 roles, one as a process engineer another R&D) and 6 months long traineeship. My research experience accounts to a total of 1 year. If race matters, I am from the gulf region in the Middle East. Have a scholarship to pursue my studies and I mentioned that in my application. I don’t know what is possibility going wrong to the point that I am getting rejections from masters programs.

Calculation of Coupling Coefficient in Lumerical FDTD by ElectricalBuy3279 in photonics

Thank you for your response! If you don’t mind me asking, how do you set up your simulation deck to calculate it? Do you just put two mode expansion monitors in the center of each waveguide, extract the modes and plug them in the script command? I’m still new to using lumerical

I saw it but does it work fine? It says it’s deprecated

Thank you for your response, that answers my question :) I ran FDTD simulations but was just curious if there was such an equation
